KING OF HEARTS Sign MelodicRock Records For New Album Nov 22

Friday, November 22, 2019
Categories:

MelodicRock Records is thrilled to announce the first signing in the next phase of the label’s history.

On November 22, MRR will bring the brand-new self-titled KING OF HEARTS album to fans of exquisitely produced and performed melodic rock.

MRR will handle the CD release for the world except for North & South America and Japan. The band will handle those territories via their own distribution.

The band recently released the first single from the all-new studio record, a masterpiece of mature AOR with performances only studio veterans of this calibre could deliver.

The first single, “Don’t Wait,” is a poignant reminder to reach out to those we love today for tomorrow might be too late.

For this album, KING OF HEARTS is:

Lead Vocalist TOMMY FUNDERBURK
Founding Member and Lead Guitarist BRUCE GAITSCH
Producer/Engineer/Keyboardist CJ VANSTON
Bassist JOHN PATITUCCI
Drummer KEITH CARLOCK

“We were so excited about this new music and can’t wait to share it with everyone!” says King Of Hearts founding member Tommy Funderburk.  The group’s lead vocalist has good reason to be elated. King Of Hearts has recorded their fabulous new album at Addiction Sound Studios in Nashville and Tree House Studios in LA with a band comprised of a who’s who of writers and players and one of the most recorded voices in music.

“The sound of the record is “modern classic rock.”  Funderburk explains “If you mix the sound of the Eagles, Don Henley, Bruce Hornsby with Toto and Def Leppard with a splash of Keith Emerson and Coldplay, what would that sound like?” It sounds awesome! We started referring to it as Modern Classic Rock because of all the different elements and textures to the music we were creating.”

According to producer/engineer/keyboardist, CJ VANSTON, King Of Hearts might be the most famous band you’ve never heard. But, while you might not know them by name, you’ve heard them on thousands of hit recordings for some of the world’s most successful artists.

In addition to recording with Toto, John Mayer, James Taylor, Diana Ross, Larry Carlton and many more, drummer, KEITH CARLOCK, has for the past 15 years been the driving force in the studio and on the road for Steely Dan. Sting calls Keith ”one of the greatest drummers in the world.”

Multi Grammy winner, bassist, JOHN PATITUCCI, has played on countless albums and toured with artists such as B. B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, George Benson, Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, and Sting. In 1986, John was voted by his peers as the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences MVP on Acoustic Bass and most recently won his third Grammy as member of the legendary Wayne Shorter Quartet.

Composer, producer, arranger, keyboardist, CJ VANSTON has worked with artists such as Prince, Toto, Def Leppard, Celine Dion, Justin Timberlake, Bob Seger and countless others. In addition to scoring the Christopher Guest’s films Waiting For Guffman, Best In Show, Almost Heroes and For Your Consideration, CJ has performed as musical director and keyboardist for Joe Cocker, Tina Turner, Tears For Fears and the legendary Spinal Tap along with recently produced Toto’s highly acclaimed album, Toto XIV.

Founding member and lead guitarist, BRUCE GAITSCH has written with and for numerous platinum artists including Chicago, the number one songs “La Isla Bonita” (Madonna) and “It Don’t Mean Nothin” and “Right Here Waiting For You” (Richard Marx) and recorded with artists such as Roger Waters, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Chicago, Richard Marx, Celine Dion and many more.

TOMMY FUNDERBURK established his recording career as lead vocalist in the critically acclaimed group, Airplay with David Foster that featured the original recording of the classic number one song, “After The Love Is Gone.” Tommy’s vocals are featured on hundreds of recordings with artists as diverse as Boston, Jimmy Page, Celine Dion, Whitesnake, Rod Stewart, David Foster, Toto, Bon Jovi, Heart, Spinal Tap, Elton John, Cheap Trick, Pat Benatar, Yes, Bad Company, REO Speed Wagon, Motley Crue, Spinal Tap and many others.

Some of today’s most respected studio musicians and legendary artists have adding their talents to the album including Timothy B Schmit (Eagles), Peter Cetera (Chicago), Phil Collen (Def Leppard), Chris Rodriguez (Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, Vince Gill), and Janey Clewer (Sarah Brightman, Julio Iglesias, George Benson).

KING OF HEARTS ‘King Of Hearts’ will be released worldwide November 22.

PRAYING MANTIS Live Album 'Keep It Alive' Out December 6

Friday, December 6, 2019
Categories:

Recorded live at Frontiers Rock Festival V in Milan, Italy on April 28, 2018, this brand new live release shows PRAYING MANTIS offering the crowd a setlist of new songs and several classic tracks, including selected cuts from the now legendary debut album, “Time Tells No Lies". An awesome release, showcasing the repertoire of one of the most consistent British hard rock bands around.

Originally formed in 1973 by the Troy brothers, Tino and Chris, Praying Mantis became one of the most influential bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). The band is also one of a very small number of bands from that era to have remained an ongoing concern over the intervening years, and to still record and appear live regularly. The debut Praying Mantis album, “Time Tells No Lies” (Arista) was released in 1981 to critical acclaim, and it remains a significant milestone in the history of NWOBHM. Following a short-lived reformation of most of the original line-up of Praying Mantis in 1987, the band went back on hiatus until offered the chance to play in Japan with ex-Iron Maiden members Paul Di’Anno and Dennis Stratton in 1990. This experience injected new life into the band, and also marked the beginning of a productive 15 year partnership with Dennis Stratton.

The band’s second official studio album, “Predator in Disguise” was released in 1991, and the band have continued to write and release new material every two to three years ever since, with a shifting line-up which has featured the likes of Doogie White, Gary Barden, Bernie Shaw, Bruce Bisland, Mike Freeland, Gary Mackenzie, and many other figures from the cream of Britain’s rock fraternity. Following another major change in line-up (including the departure of Dennis Stratton), Praying Mantis signed with Frontiers in 2007 and recorded the album “Sanctuary”, which was released in 2009. The album, considered to be one of the finest of their career, has received consistently positive reviews, as have the follow-ups, "Legacy" and "Gravity”.

Whether gigging in support of their latest releases, writing new material, or re-visiting other songs from their extensive back-catalogue, the Troy brothers, along with guitarist Andy Burgess and newest recruits, John 'Jaycee' Cuijpers on vocals and Hans In T' Zandt on drums and vocals, remain committed to the blend of melody and power in their music that has become a trademark of the Praying Mantis sound, and, some three decades after forming, the band is still completely dedicated to entertaining a seemingly ever-growing army of fans across the globe.

HOUSE OF SHAKIRA's New Album 'Radiocarbon' Out December 6

Friday, December 6, 2019
Categories:

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the upcoming release of HOUSE OF SHAKIRA's brand new album “Radiocarbon” on December 6th.  Today, fans can enjoy the first single and video, 'Delusion'

“Radiocarbon” is House Of Shakira's ninth original studio album and shows the band gaining even more maturity and depth in the songwriting department and truly operating at the top of their game. Singer Andreas Novak says, “We are very proud to release this particular record with Frontiers. We are certainly in good company, but what counts most is that “Radiocarbon” is truly our strongest and most substantial record ever. Also, thanks to the mighty Pontus Norgren (Hammerfall) for the outstanding production job he did on this record. Hold onto your hats!"

Originally formed in Stockholm, Sweden around 1991, House Of Shakira released their debut album, "Lint" in 1997. They have a unique sound that stands out amongst other bands in their genre as they craft melodic hard rock of the highest quality with vocals that soar, melodies that rise, and guitars that bring it all together. All these components make for a sensational listening experience. Because of the diversity of the lyrics and the music, House Of Shakira does not fall under your typical hard rock classification and appeals to a musically inclined audience and fan community. The band's motto is "try every idea with an open mind", meaning that every member of the band contributes their personal musical ideas: writing the lyrics, rhythm patterns, chord changes, and crafting special melodies.

The band is currently plotting European tour dates for 2020, so stay tuned for more news on that soon!

CYHRA Release New Studio Album ‘No Halos In Hell’ on November 15

Artist:
Friday, November 15, 2019
Categories:

Boosted by the success of their 2017 debut, »Letters To Myself«, Swedish bashers CYHRA are using that momentum and pushing forward with a new album, »No Halos In Hell«, and Nuclear Blast fully behind them. Founded by vocalist Jake E (ex-AMARANTHE) and guitarist Jesper Strömblad (ex-IN FLAMES), CYHRA has gone from being reminiscent of the duo's former bands to having an identity all its own. In fact, »No Halos In Hell« is one of those rare albums that defies being placed neatly in a boxed-up metal genre coming out heavy and dynamic, yet loaded with melodic vocal hooks that stay nailed to the brain for days while keeping the impact hard and heavy. Fusing these two elements in the best way possible was CYHRA's main focus this time out.

"When I was writing, I sat down and thought about what worked and what didn't work on the first album. What I was focusing on the most for »No Halos In Hell« was making the songs more live oriented, and I think that live 'friendliness' of the songs also brings the catchiness up to another level. I was constantly thinking about hook lines that should stick in your head." says Jake E.

As strong as »Letters To Myself« was as a debut, »No Halos In Hell« is head and shoulders above it in every way. The addition of guitarist Euge Valovirta (ex-SHINING) as a full member has raised the creative process to a level where, according to Jake E, "Everyone is playing to the point of what is best for the song." There is no showboating, no push-pull of the individual members trying to claim their moments in the spotlight. CYHRA is a unit and everyone involved is striving to get the most out of the songwriting. This included Jake E, as the principal songwriter, being open to ideas from his bandmates and working with American songwriter / keyboardist Mark Mangold (Michael Bolton, Cher) on the ballad ‘Lost In Time’.

»No Halos In Hell« also showcases Jake E's growth as a lyric writer, digging deep and going so far as to address his brother's suicide on ’Battle From Within’. He calls it a personal album but the lyrics are open to interpretation for the listener.

"I was trying to write the lyrics in a way that they mean something to me, clearly," says Jake E, "but I want the listener to hear the lyrics and know what those feelings are that I'm talking about."

For those that want to try and label CYHRA with a genre stamp, one listen through »No Halos In Hell« will instantly solidify the stance that Jake E and his bandmates think and play outside the box. This is reflected in the multi-faceted spread of tracks from lead-off track ‘Out Of My Life’, the thundering ‘Kings Tonight’, the soaring folk-flavoured ‘Blood Brothers’, the tender ‘Lost In Time’, and the schizophrenic ‘Hit Me’. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

As for the unique title of the album, it was Jesper Strömblad that came up with »No Halos In Hell«. In fact, it was proposed as the title for the first album before it was completed but CYHRA chose to wait for album #2. Trusting their instincts paid off in a big way.

"The great thing is that the title can be interpreted in many different ways," says Jake E. "I look at it as 'You've been good your whole life; you can't be here partying with us (laughs)."

Jake E | lead vocals (ex-Amaranthe)
Euge Valovirta | lead guitar (ex-Shining)
Jesper Strömblad | rhythm guitar (ex-In Flames)
Alex Landenburg | drums (Kamelot)

MATS KARLSSON Delivers 'The Time Optimist' Dec 6

Artist:
Friday, December 6, 2019
Categories:

Mats Karlsson, guitarist and songwriter with classic Swedish hard rock act 220 Volt is releasing his first ever solo album titled “The Time Optimist” on December 6th 2019. Mats, a native Swede grew up in Östersund in northern Sweden but has resided in Stockholm since the mid 80's.

The new record is a collection of songs that are a bit more laid back than the 220 Volt stuff, and move freely between rock, hard rock, singer/songwriter style and some AOR-touches here and there.

Mats asked his brother Ulf to play all keyboards, and gathered some great musician friends to help out incl. drummer Björn “Grizzly” Höglund (Easy Action, The Summit, Hoven Droven), drummer Peter Hermansson (220 Volt, Talisman, John Norum), Bass-ace Nalle Påhlsson (Therion, Treat, Easy Action), and also some well-known musicians in Sweden as drummer Mike Ajax, bassist Lars Ericsson (The Summit), the first 220 Volt singer Christer “Frille” Åsell and also vocalist Jenny Fall. “The Time Optimist” consists of 11 tracks in different styles, nine tracks penned by Mats, one by Mats co-written with Björn Höglund, and the album also has a cover of the track “Real Gone” by Sheryl Crow/John Shanks. There are two duets where Mats shares the lead vocals with singer Jenny Fall, and one with “Frille” Åsell.

The term “time optimist” is a Swedish expression referring to a person who is always positive that he/she will achieve a certain amount of work in specified time and often failing.  This self-produced release will come out on CD, vinyl and on digital platforms on December 6th 2019.

“Megalo Seitani” will be available as a lyric video & single on October 4th. A second track will also be released ahead of the album.

We’ve been working for months on the songs and its wonderful how the songs have developed naturally and have taken life on their own.  This album is going to have the right edge to it, but at the same time plenty of melody and uplifting songs. You will hear elements of Def Leppard, Van Halen, Dokken, Motley Crue, Europe and more, because every one of these bands are a big influence to us, but I think Silent Tiger is very original with its approach to rock music.”

Carl Sentance was born 28th June 1961 in Loughborough Leicestershire, UK and started his first band Leading Star playing guitar and singing in 1977.

After participating in several local bands, he replaced John Deverill as a vocalist in the NWoBHM band Persian Risk.
In 1981 he recorded his first single “Calling for You”, the band then recorded “Ridin High” in 1983. In 1984 Persian Risk toured with Motörhead throughout the UK and appeared on The Tube prime time TV on Ch4. In 1985 Carl recorded his first Persian Risk album "Rise up".

At this point he received an offer from manager Smallwood Taylor to join Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath) as lead singer in his solo project. The collaboration lasted from 1986 to 1988 and created demo songs, videos and various bootlegs. Carl left the Geezer Butler Band in 1988 to join the Welsh band "Monroe".

In 1988 Carl decided to return to Cardiff and joined the band Tok-io Rose. In 1990 he decided to move to Florida to form the band "Ghost" with Welsh ex- UFO and WASTED guitarist Paul Chapman. In 1995 Carl returned to the UK.

From 1996 to 1999 he sang in various musicals, such as JUDAS in Jesus Christ Super Star and the AMERICAN in Chess. From 1999 to 2002 Carl became the lead singer of the Swiss Hard rock band Krokus, with whom he recorded the album Round 13. In 2004 he then joined the Whole Lotta Metal Theatre Tour for 2 years.

2006 Carl joined up with Deep Purple's keyboardist Don Airey for his solo project "Don Airey and Friends" and has co-writen with Don ever since. Albums include "A Light in the Sky", "All Out", "Keyed Up" and "One of a Kind".

In 2009 Carl recorded his first solo album MIND DOCTOR! That led him to try and reform the original Persian Risk but at the time the members were busy with other projects so Carl put a brand new Persian Risk together and came up with two great albums "Once a King" and "Who am I", which will be released by Escape Records in Summer/Autumn 2019.

In 2015 Carl became the new singer for the band NAZARETH after founding member Dan McCafferty had to retire due to illness. More recently Carl has recorded Nazareth's latest studio album "Tattooed On My Brain" (song credits include "Never Dance With The Devil", "Change", "State Of Emergency", "Silent Symphony" and "Don't Throw Your Love Away"). Carl is currently touring all over the world.

11 332   2:46

REDLINE hail from Birmingham, the ancestral home of metal. Balls to the walls guitars, a locked and loaded rhythm section and a real powerhouse of a vocalist, REDLINE have forged their own distinctive blend of Classic Hard Rock and British Heavy Metal. With influences drawn from a rich heritage, the band have been compared to Judas Priest, Saxon, Dio, Iron Maiden and a host of others from the founding fathers of metal.

REDLINE have played a number of British festivals including Hard Rock Hell, Planet Rockstock, Planet Rock’s Winter’s End, and Europe’s biggest free festival, The Godiva Festival in
England. REDLINE have previously toured the UK with the legendary Saxon and the Quireboys

REDLINE's album 'VICE', released on Escape Music (worldwide) and Rubicon Records in Japan met with much critical acclaim. One of the tracks featured is REDLINE'S anthemic "King Of The Mountain", which has become the soundtrack to the Isle Of Man TT Motorcycle Races.
Music from the album is also used exclusively on 'Full Throttle', a challenging motorcycle theme’d Pinball Machine ...and songs will now feature on the new official video game of the IOM TT Races to be released in 2020 on PS4 and all formats by BigBen Interactive.

Since releasing VICE, REDLINE have welcomed Chris Basener, an accomplished and exciting new guitarist, into the band. Chris has released a number of solo albums as well as authoring books on guitar technique and brings fresh impetus to the song writing process. REDLINE have found a great chemistry that sees them writing material that has a darker and heavier feel than before... and from this cauldron Gods And Monsters was born.

REDLINE elected to record the album at ROCKFIELD STUDIOS in Monmouth, England. The world’s first residential recording studio that saw not only Rush, Black Sabbath and Robert Plant record hit albums, but where Queen recorded one of the biggest tracks of all time, Bohemian Rhapsody.

Nick Brine at the console was a natural choice. Having worked at Rockfield and engineered, mixed and produced such diverse talents as The Darkness, Thunder, Tyketto, Brian May, Bruce Springsteen, The Stone Roses .....to name but a few, Nick has a great understanding of capturing that live band feel that REDLINE were seeking. The finished mixes were passed onto Pete Maher, a world class Mastering Engineer for the likes of The Rolling Stones, U2, Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails, Thunder, Paul Weller... just some of the artists he has mastered award winning albums for; REDLINE naturally had no doubt that Pete’s mastering would unleash the full power of the tracks.

REDLINE’s Rockfield pilgrimage set out to capture the band’s signature classic rock sound, a raw energy that forms the basis of their music. Riff laden rock, power-pipe vocals and hook laden songs telling tales of the good...and the bad, of the darkness that lies within, and of hope that lights the way.

Gods And Monsters...now about to land and blaze a trail for the next chapter of Redline
...torchbearers for a new wave of Classic Rock and Metal.

7th heaven Releases ‘Covered’, Out Now

Artist:

“Covered” is a collection of 20 great songs from around the world; which you
might not know of but should.  We hand-picked some artists/songs that were
never exposed to the U.S. masses, never played on major U.S. radio.  We feel “Rock/Pop” music is still alive with many people, and we think we can turn our fan base onto new bands/music; while at the same time, possibly turn people from around the world
on to ‘7th heaven’.  We re-recorded these songs in our style, and we hope you
enjoy some great new music to listen to.

Available: CD • USB Stick • Digital Download

A Tribute To TONY MILLS - RIP

Artist:
Categories:
Anthony Paul Mills
07.07.1962 - 18.09.2019

“It is with a shattered heart that I announce the passing of my loving husband and best friend Tony Mills. He was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer in April of this year and lived his life to the fullest until he exhaled for the last time in my arms. He wanted to live, but wasn't afraid of death.

Most will know him through his incredible contribution to the music world as a singer in bands like Shy and TNT as well as a solo artist and session vocalist. He leaves behind him a legacy that will live on for many lifetimes.

Those people closest to him will also know him as a gentle and kind soul, a dedicated husband with a love for the quiet life, his animals and his motorbikes. His sense of humour was always on point. His last summer was the happiest in his life, at the end of each day he exclaimed "It's been another fantastic day!" He spent a lot of time in his workshop fixing up his dirtbike so he could ride it later this autumn. The evening before he passed, he managed to whisper:

"I've had a good life. I've had a GOOD life. I'm just a bit pissed about the bike."

Linda Mills

We all knew this was coming, but it doesn’t make it any easier to accept.

I would like to pay tribute to the one and only TONY MILLS – singer, songwriter, frontman, philosopher, comedian…and realist. Friend.

Tony and I swapped countless emails over the last decade, he was always that guy to replied to everything, almost immediately. He was always upbeat, even in the face of something he knew he couldn’t beat.

Cancer is a bastard, but through Tony’s courageous decision to be as open and honest about his treatment, we got to learn a little more about it and perhaps understand the emotional impact this had on both Tony personally and his family and friends. And by reading the many many comments posted under every update, we also got to learn a little about how his fans lived with the news too.

Tony Mills was one of the good guys. And you won’t ever hear anyone say differently. He will be missed.

His openness continued in his private correspondence with me. I’m sure many others received similar emails. I’m going to share one of the very last messages he sent me, as I know he wouldn’t mind. He sounded at total peace. I can’t overstate my admiration for his state of mind.

“I'm actually not sure now, if I have days or just a few months left. Either is definite.
I am enjoying a smoke, spending all my savings, forwarding advanced pocket money for the kids and paying for other artists to record their songs, that just can't afford it themselves.
I'm not listening to bible bashers or cannabis oil salesmen, just doing sessions, drinking good beer and dying naturally. I'll be remembered for that, thank you.
Oh and picking your own grave place, is a weird one, trust me.”

To close on a brighter note, which I know Tony would want – I asked him to send me some of his famous ‘tales from the road’ that I was at the time considering compiling and putting into book form. Who knows, I might still do…

He sent me some cracking tales, but its this one that has me smiling right now:

“SHY - somewhere in Europe. 1987

Parties with fans on tour buses are notorious. Most of the time, it ended up as a smoke filled, bottle strewn mess filled with laughter and sci-fi films on the video and 50 buck bets on who is willing to swallow the contents of an ashtray. I remember Chubby Brown being our host on the stereo for weeks and of course, some Monty Python and Black Adder. When it gets late, and everyone retires to their bunk bed, at whatever hour, then you know it's over.
However, not so, for a group of fans, who were informed in no uncertain terms, that they had to leave the bus at this point, (which was in the middle of a Belgian forest) at 0400 in the morning, because of checkpoint and passport control. We had driven for hours before that. I wondered how the hell those people ever found out where they were and how they got home, for years. Be careful, which bus you catch!!
It was fortuitous; the curtains of my bed, were parted by a machine gun at the border, with the words, 'Out!! - Drugs check !!'
The bizarre end to this tale, is that as we were signed to RCA at the time, we had some of their stock on the bus. The guards really only wanted our Coca Cola, so after they confiscated all the Coke, we signed a few copies of, 'Huey Lewis and The News' albums and they let us pass through the border, as we sang, 'The Way It Is'.”

That’s the way it is….

TONY MILLS RIP.

UFO Guitar Legend Vinnie Moore To Release New Album 'Soul Shifter'

Artist:
Categories:

NYC - The follow up to Vinnie’s critically acclaimed 2015 “AERIAL VISIONS” album will be released on October 9, on his label Mind's Eye Music. Titled “Soul Shifter”, Vinnie's 9th solo album features guest appearances by legendary artists Rudy Sarzo and Jordan Rudess, with Richie Monica on drums, Michael Bean (bassist from Vinnie’s TIME ODYSSEY album), John Cassidy (Keyboards), and John Pessoni (Drums).

Vinnie is considered one of the originators of shred guitar, and has released eight influential solo albums, and six albums and a LIVE DVD as a member of rock royalty legends UFO. He’s made countless album guest appearances, and has even recorded the soundtrack for a PEPSI TV commercial. He’s been a member of Alice Cooper’s band and was opening act for RUSH on their ROLL THE BONES tour with his own band. His solo and UFO recordings as well as LIVE performances have amassed rave reviews all around the globe from both fans and music press, catapulting  him into guitar icon distinction! He has been an inspiration for fans and guitarists worldwide.

Say’s Vinnie, “I have been touring all over the world extensively with UFO and my solo band for the past 16 years. I started this album a couple years back and have been working on it religiously between tours. It’s quite different than any of my others. It has elements of things I’ve done in the past, but has gone much deeper into certain areas. There is an overall sort of contrast between energetic upbeat songs, versus ballad-like soulful ones which has always been a big part of my style. There are some Jam elements in places too. This is likely the most emotional and soulful thing I have ever done. Very moody, with lots of feel”. “I wrote a song as a tribute to Carlos Santana, called BROTHER CARLOS, and another called GAINESVILLE STATION which is a tip of the hat to Steve Gaines. Both players were huge influences on me when I was learning to play, and continue to be now”.

“He’s hands down the greatest Moore since Demi, Roger, Dudley and Mary Tyler”, and the greatest Vinnie since Vinnie Barbarino.” - Johnny JizzleJam, Planet Guitar Godss Magazine

“When something moves me, what I am feeling flows directly into music. That’s how I deal with reality. I woke up one morning to the news that Chris Cornell had passed and it really hit me hard. I went into my studio, picked up a guitar and immediately wrote and recorded MYSTIFIED. Without intending to do so, and because of what was going on around me at the time, this album in a way became a tribute to people who meant something to me. The Allman Brothers were always one of my favorite bands and I was working on a song called SOUL RIDER that was inspired by them. While writing it, unfortunately Greg Allman left us. A lot of heart went into recording that song. Also, I wrote a song called HEARD YOU WERE GONE for my friend and band mate Elliott (Dean Guitars) who left us unexpectedly a couple years back.

“There are definitely some downhearted cathartic moments on this album, but they’re balanced out with songs like KUNG FU GRIP and FUNK BONE JAM that represent the opposite side of my personality, which is my constant joking and goofball sense of humor”.

Vinnie has done hundreds of shows all over the planet, including Europe, UK, Scandinavia, Brazil, USA, as well as India, S. Korea, Lebanon, Mexico, Russia, and Canada. The UFO “Last Orders” tour began in England in March, and will continue in the USA on October 9.

“Ancient astronaut theorists suggest that Vinnie may have been spawned from alien DNA! Or at least his left index finger anyway” - Giorgio Thessaloniki, Ancient Aliens

“Solo records are a great vehicle because the canvas is totally open and I can paint whatever and wherever I want. There’s total freedom in not having boundaries. All of my influences are on the canvas, from Rock to Blues to Be-Bop to Funk, even R&B and beyond. I have always felt music deeply even before I played guitar. After I began playing, it became my vehicle to express and release what I feel inside. I love channeling my soul into melodies and songs.”

Rock Candy Latest - FASTWAY, ANGEL & WIGGY BITS

Categories:

5 new Rock Candy releases are available now from the website www.rockcandyrecords.co.uk

ANGEL 'LIVE WITHOUT A NET' CANDY418

IN THE 1970s double live albums were often the calling card of an act that had either made its mark or were about to explode to international fame. They were a marker of confidence by both the record label and the artist. Angel was no exception as all eyes had been on the band for some considerable time in preparation for an anointment to the premier league. Because label mates KISS had exploded with their epoch-making ‘Alive!’ double album it seemed as though Angel could have the same success. Sadly, however, that success was not to be.

With five studio albums behind them there was no shortage of material from which to compile this album.
Recording two concerts in California during 1978, the band had a red hot selection of tracks that incorporated such nuggets as ‘Tower’ and ‘Feelin’ Right’ (complete with a Jeff Beck tribute) from their very earliest, prog-influenced, days to the pop metal of ‘Ain’t Gonna Eat My Heart Out Anymore’, ‘Got Love If You Want It’ and ‘White Lightning’. They also found room to include some surprises, such as a fine rendition of the Mott The Hoople standard ‘All The Young Dudes’ and a brand studio track, ‘20th Century Foxes’, recorded for the 1980 ‘Foxes’ film soundtrack.

Despite the album’s explosive content and no-holds-barred performance, the record failed to connect in the way that everyone had hoped for. In addition, Casablanca Records were fast losing traction as a company and facing massive destabilising forces, which left the band pretty much rudderless. They had in many respects reached the end of the line but at least they went out with a bang!

SPECIAL DELUXE COLLECTOR’S EDITION. Fully Remastered Audio, 16 page full colour booklet, 3,500 word essay, new liner notes by Angel expert Dave Reynolds and enhanced artwork.

ANGEL 'WHITE HOT' CANDY416 (2 BONUS TRACKS)

THE STORY OF Angel is quite remarkable. Launched as the diametrical opposite of KISS (who shared the same label) the band was supposed to reflect the less intimidating qualities of their great adversaries. It was a polar position reinforced by progressive musical attributes and an image that featured angelic all white costumes. KISS was being sold as bad boys but Angel, like the name suggests, were knights in white satin. Their complex, prog-infused, pomp rock suggested that they were superior musicians cut from a very British-influenced musical heritage, with shades of Yes, Led Zeppelin, Procol Harum and Genesis underscoring their style.

‘White Hot’ was the band’s fourth album, following three highly praised but commercially disappointing previous records. This time around, they decided to take stock and plan a different musical strategy. One that saw them refining their style, drawing on hard hitting pop rock rather than overt prog touches. In addition, they brought in a new producer, Eddie Leonetti, a man who had been building a healthy and respectable reputation as the hard rock producer de jour. His previous work with fellow LA rockers Legs Diamond helping to cement the decision to use him.

Originally released in 1978, and housed in a beautifully illustrated album sleeve, the record boasted ten tracks of lean and mean rock, with the emphasis on hard hitting hooks and hip kicking riffs. Tracks such as ‘Don’t Leave Me Lonely’, ‘Ain’t Gonna Eat My Heart Out Anymore’ (previously recorded by the Young Rascals), ‘Hold Me, Squeeze Me’ and ‘Over And Over’ underscored the band’s intention perfectly. Look out to for the, bonus, rare Canadian only single B-side ‘Better Days’.

SPECIAL DELUXE COLLECTOR’S EDITION. Fully Remastered Audio, 2 Bonus tracks, 16 page full colour booklet, 3,500 word essay, new liner notes by Angel expert Dave Reynolds and enhanced artwork.

TRACK LISTING: 1. DON’T LEAVE ME LONELY 2. AIN’T GONNA EAT OUT MY HEART ANYMORE 3. HOLD ME, SQUEEZE ME 4. OVER AND OVER 5. UNDER SUSPICION 6. GOT LOVE IF YOU WANT IT 7. STICK LIKE GLUE 8. FLYING WITH BROKEN WINGS (WITHOUT YOU) 9. YOU COULD LOSE ME 10. THE WINTER SONG BONUS TRACKS: 11. BETTER DAYS (single B-side) 12. THE CHRISTMAS SONG (single)

ANGEL 'SINFUL' CANDY417 (2 BONUS TRACKS)

AFTER FOUR ALBUMS there was a strong feeling that Angel were building towards some sort of creative crescendo. Of course, they had already moved through a fledgling progressive rock stage, working towards a more accessible style, perfectly framed by their previous album, ‘White Hot’. The focus was now on pure pop metal, the band crafting exquisite melodic hard rock with riffs and hooks to die for. They were also defining their image, as the ‘Sinful’ the album sleeve showcased the band with perfectly coiffed hair and in stunning all white superhero style outfits. It was an angelic sight to behold.

Issued in 1978, recorded in Los Angeles and produced once again by Eddie Leonetti (Legs Diamond, Moxy, Rex) the record packs an impressive sonic punch, easily outpacing their previous works and positioning the band as potential superstars. In a bizarre move, the record was originally titled ‘Bad Publicity’ and had a suitably debauched album sleeve that was in complete contrast to their previous image. At the 11th hour after an intervention from the label boss at Casablanca this sleeve was abandoned, although several thousand copies were printed and ready to ship to stores. That sleeve has been included in this re-issue.

Musically, the album contained some of the band’s most identifiable tracks, songs such as ‘Don’t Take Your Love’, ‘Waited A Long Time’ and ‘L.A. Lady’. Sadly the big breakthrough failed to materialise, leaving both band and label mystified as to their lack of progress. Musically however it was a triumph of enormous significance and is often hailed as the pinnacle of their creative achievements.

SPECIAL DELUXE COLLECTOR’S EDITION. Fully Remastered Audio, 2 Bonus tracks, 16 page full colour booklet, 3,500 word essay, new liner notes by Angel expert Dave Reynolds and enhanced artwork.

TRACK LISTING: 1. DON’T TAKE YOUR LOVE 2. L.A. LADY 3. JUST CAN’T TAKE IT 4. YOU CAN’T BUY LOVE 5. BAD TIME 6. WAITED A LONG TIME 7. I’LL BRING THE WHOLE WORLD TO YOUR DOOR 8. FASTWAY 'ALL FIRED UP' CANDY391

WHEN GUITARIST ‘FAST’ Eddie Clarke left Motorhead in 1982, few would have expected him to go on to eclipse the success of his former band. Motörhead, although hugely successful as a live act and feverishly lauded in the UK media, had not enjoyed significant record sales in North America; not unsurprising considering the raw ferocity of their sound. For Clarke this was an opportunity to take stock and build a musical outfit that could break into that market with a far more wide screen approach. It was a smart move as Fastway’s debut album struck gold in the USA, elevating their profile far beyond Motörhead’s niche appeal.

Surrounding himself with a mixture of well respected band members, including former Humble Pie drummer Jerry Shirley, ex-Taste bassist Charlie McCracken and, sparkling new discovery, Irish vocalist Dave King, the band immersed themselves in blues rock but with a contemporary edge. It was a sound that won much respect and fitted in nicely with the emerging commercial interest in hard rock. Continuing their progress they recorded ‘All Fired Up’, a record that stylistically mirrored the band’s debut album and was produced once again by industry legend Eddie Kramer (Kiss, Hendrix, Humble Pie) who had so successfully guided the previous record.
Issued in July 1984, ‘All Fired Up’ was positively received, getting off to a good start and attracting rave reviews. The album boasts a selection of tough, no-nonsense tracks, including such gems as ‘Steal The Show’, ‘Tell Me’, ‘If You Could See’ and the title track. It was a record that further enhanced Fastway’s reputation as one of the best band’s of the 80s.

SPECIAL DELUXE COLLECTOR’S EDITION. Fully Remastered Audio, 16 page full colour booklet, 3,500 word essay, new liner notes by Malcolm Dome and enhanced artwork.

TRACK LISTING: 1. ALL FIRED UP 2. MISUNDERSTOOD 3. STEAL THE SHOW 4. STATION 5. NON STOP LOVE 6. HURTIN’ ME 7. TELL ME 8. HUNG UP ON LOVE 9. THE STRANGER 10. TELEPHONE 11. IF YOU COULD SEE

WIGGY BITS 'S/T' CANDY415

THE RATHER ODDLY named Wiggy Bits were formed from a long line of well known New York East Coast musicians during the early seventies. The various members had seen active duty in bands ranging from the Blues Magoos & Balance (vocalist Peppy Castro), Barnaby Bye & Aviator (drummer Mike Ricciardella) to psych rockers the Illusion (guitarists Ritchie Cerniglia and Mike Maniscalo together with Mike Ricciardella). With their various individual projects falling apart, Wiggy Bits were than formed as a rather effective hard rock band and handled by, none other than, Hall And Oates manager Tommy Motolla, a man who would eventually become the CEO of SONY music.

Recording at the Record Plant in NYC, the band’s lone album is a fine example of strong yet melodic mid seventies hard rock with the emphasis on edgy dynamics, powerful riffs and the soaring vocals of Peppy Castro. Signed to Polydor, their album was produced mainly by the band (engineered by future superproducer Jimmy Iovine) was issued in 1976, and despite its quality received little fan fare outside of a handful of critics and fans from their previous groups.

The album, building on a ground swell of solid hard rock tracks such as ‘Free To Ride The Wind’, ‘Oh Captain’, ‘I’ll Write You Off’ and ‘Place In The Sun’, showcase a band with an ambitious mandate, employing lots of solid lead guitar and impressive arrangements. Sadly the project faltered but several other better known successful splinter projects emerged from the ashes, including Network, Balance and Aviator.

SPECIAL DELUXE COLLECTOR’S EDITION. Fully Remastered Audio, 16 page full colour booklet, 3,500 word essay, new liner notes by Dave Reynolds and enhanced artwork.

TRACK LISTING: 1. FREE TO RIDE THE WIND 2. OH CAPTAIN 3. LIES 4. ELLIE 5. PLACE IN THE SUN 6. WIGGY 7. LOVE TRACKS 8. ALONE AGAIN 9. BAD SITUATION 10. I’LL WRITE YOU OFF

A Tribute To EDDIE MONEY & RIC OCASEK (RIP)

Artist:
Categories:

The Cars founder Ric Ocasek has been found dead in his NYC home, dying unexpectedly, but apparently of natural causes.

This comes just a day or so after the tragic passing of Eddie Money.

I was a huge fan of both, The Cars provided some of the defining classics of a generation and Eddie Money proved persistence, honesty and an unbridled determination could make dreams come true.

Ric Ocasek was responsible for the bulk of songwriting for The Cars. And just look at all the cuts you know by heart. It is another example of the talent that many of these 70s and 80s musical icons possessed. Some call it ‘old school’, I call it class.
His contributions to pop culture via The Cars, his solo records, his critically acclaimed production work and his keen eye for fostering new talent are nothing short of incredible.

His spirit will live on, such as Benjamin Orr’s has all these years.

I have a small Eddie Money story I like and there’s something very personal about Eddie that I haven’t shared before.

Eddie Money was the very first interview I did as a journalist back in 1996.
Of course, I was a huge fanboy, so I was nervous, excited and had a list of questions 5 pages long.

It was an interview to remember, lengthy, hilarious and Eddie made me feel as if he was telling these stories for the very first time. You can imagine my immense dismay when I turned off my recording Walkman Only to find it had chewed the tape from the get go - totally screwed up and I lost it all.

I raced to my day job at the time and went to work recalling the interview and attempting to transcribe it from memory. I still regret not having that audio, but to this day, his quotes were that memorable, it wasn’t hard to recall the conversation and piece together an article.

Step back a few years before this and I had just started my first real full-time job working in a record store. The manager was cute and intelligent, and I was pretty intimidated by her, but talking music was an obvious ice breaker.
We had a few favourites in common, but I felt the need to draw on a more out of left field example to see if she really had good taste. “Do you know Eddie Money” I asked? Yeah, she did and she had his records. That said everything I needed to know right there. We’ve now been together 25+ years and have three sons (none of which are named Eddie though!).

I’m looking forward to hearing Eddie’s completed new record. It will be mixed emotions of course, but I know he’ll have something memorable to say.

Thursday, October 24, 2019
Categories:

Time flies by.

Nearly three decades have passed since the foundation of JADED HEART. The paths separated in 2004 after fourteen crazy years.

Due to requests, Michael started touring Europe in 2017 with a selection of JADED HEART´S best songs between 1990 and 2004.

Never say never!

The phenomenal response led Michael to the decision to go one step further. He wrote dozens of songs for 'MBJH'. Twelve of them made it to FEELS LIKE YESTERDAY.

The typical AOR / MELODIC ROCK alternates with acoustic songs, powerful up-tempo numbers and beautiful ballads.

FEELS LIKE YESTERDAY is a continuation of the style of the albums until 2004.

F.L.Y. was produced again in the RMB STUDIOS, Duisburg.
The album will be released on October 25th, 2019 on RMB Records.

A small European tour starts at the same time as the release.

WORK OF ART 'Exibits' Arrives Nov 9; Debut Video Launched

Artist:
Saturday, November 9, 2019
Categories:

“Exhibits” has been in the works for more than a year and a half, but will finally get unleashed to the legions of hungry melodic rock fans that this band has enraptured with their first three albums. "It’s been a long time indeed, five years!” says guitarist and producer Robert Sall. "Funny enough, it didn’t seem that way. Everyone in the band was busy doing their own thing and it wasn’t until mid-2017 when Serafino [Perugino, President Frontiers Records] asked us about our plans for a new album and it hit us that, it REALLY was about time. So we spent the better part of 2018 writing and recording it and here we are!"

Work Of Art debuted in February 2008 with the release of their album “Artwork”. Coming out of nowhere, the album immediately struck a chord with melodic rock aficionados around the world. With a sound inspired by genre greats like Toto, Giant, and Journey, Work Of Art quickly established themselves as one of the most promising newcomers in the genre. Soon after their debut, WOA guitarist and main composer Robert Sall joined W.E.T, the project featuring Jeff Scott Soto and Erik Martensson from Eclipse, thus immediately cementing his status as a star in the genre!

Expectations for the follow-up album, “In Progress” were sky high. Work of Art lived up to the hype, entering the Swedish album charts at number 30 upon release of the album. The next step for the band was to start performing live, which they did for the first time in Madrid, Spain in January 2012 and followed that performance with several other shows in various European countries. Third album “Framework” followed in 2014 and kept the momentum going for the band which, simply put, became the top new AOR band from Europe.

“Exhibits” is therefore the logical next step for WOA, an album which encompasses all that they have managed to create until now. Offering another bunch of unforgettable songs with soaring melodies (courtesy of singer Lars Säfsund) and amazing instrumental prowess (offered by Robert and Herman), "Exhibits" will thrill fans of the band and of the genre as a whole. "Like always, when Herman, Lars and I get together, it sounds like us, it sounds like Work of Art,” tells Sall. "However, with this record I tried to bring out more ”old school AOR” influences and get rid of some of the West Coast influences that were on our previous albums. I wanted it to be an AOR album, not a melodic rock album, not a West Coast album, just a classic AOR sounding album, start to finish!"

Overall this is certainly Work of Art’s most up-tempo and straight ahead album thus far, but – as it should be – some unbelievable softer moments are there as well. One notable highlight, legendary keyboard player Vince DiCola (author of the immortal “Training Montage” piece on the Rocky IV soundtrack) is a special guest on “This Isn’t Love.”

If you are an AOR fan this is a record you simply cannot miss!

The Dark Element featuring Anette Olzon & Jani Liimatainen Announce Second Album "Songs The Night Sings" Out November 8th via Frontiers Music Srl! Video For Title Track Out Now!

THE DARK ELEMENT is a musical project featuring vocalist Anette Olzon (ex-Nightwish) and Finnish guitarist and songwriter Jani Liimatainen (Insomnium, Cain's Offering). November 8th will see the release of their second album, entitled "Songs The Night Sings". Today, the band presents a video for the album's title track, which you can see below.

“Songs The Night Sings” takes off where the self-titled debut left off, with immaculate vocals from Anette and fabulous anthems written by Jani.

"It’s a thrill that we’re releasing yet another album and for me it’s been even easier to record this one since me and Jani now know each other really well. For me, this album is bigger and better and I believe the ones who liked the first one will really like this one too. All I can say is that I already long to do another album. Hep hep!" says Anette.

Jani adds, "I think the album is very heavy, but still hyper melodic, and this time we are even exploring new musical territories we didn't on the previous album. Now that me and Anette have one album together under our belts, we have found the style we want to pursue and also the ideal way of working together. Given all this, I think it's safe to say that with this album you'll get even more of what made the first album so good, only it's gonna be bigger, better and bolder!"

THE DARK ELEMENT made their live debut in June 2018 at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg, Sweden. They also completed a short Japanese tour and performed at the Frontiers Rock Sweden festival in October at Fryshuset Klubben in Stockholm. More tour dates are planned for this upcoming album, so expect to see the band on stage again soon.

Since word of this project initially got out, fans were frothing at the mouth with anticipation for its arrival. And no wonder considering the talent involved! Anette is widely known for being the fabulous voice on the hit albums from Nightwish, “Dark Passion Play” and “Imaginareum”. Jani has recently been busy in Insomnium as well as Cain's Offering alongside Stratovarius singer Timo Kotipelto, but left a deep mark on the minds of all Power Metal fans thanks to his time in Sonata Arctica.

The resulting debut album released in November 2017 took no time to prove that the resume of the individuals involved did indeed add up to the musical output.

German progressive metal masters Vanden Plas Official will release "The Ghost Xperiment - Awakening” on October 11

Watch the music video for 'The Ghost Xperiment’ NOW

The album is part one of a two part concept album, with the second album to be released in 2020.

The quintet's ninth regular studio production, “The Ghost Xperiment - AwakenIng” continues to underscore the high artistic level of musicianship and lyrical creativity that the band have sustained for so long. Based on an actual documented paranormal experiment, the main character in the story, created by frontman Andy Kuntz, is Gideon Grace, a man who has to fight constantly for his life against the relentless shadows of the “House of Rain” as he wanders through France. Burdened with a heavy weight of sorrow following the agonizing death of his beloved Ivy, Gideon's pain is also his driving force in the war with his demons. He expands his knowledge with books he finds in the library of a German school of metaphysics. It is here that he reads about secret teachers and parapsychological experiments, which become an important foundation from which he can fight against the creatures of darkness. When it comes to the first showdown with said creatures, rather than finding peace, Gideon's battle tears open a hole deep into the abyss of Hell.'

Musically, Vanden Plas once again offers a perfect combination of heavy and melodic, while the orchestral arrangements here are more in the background compared to the last studio album. At the same time, the quintet comes closer to its original roots, such as “The God Thing” or “Far Off Grace”: more progressive elements in the songs, similar to what one knows from those earlier releases. The six, mostly long, pieces achieve their impressive and fascinating effect through a very band-oriented arrangement, so that the clear and intensive urgency of the songs shines through naturally. The listener is captivated from the start, first by songs that each deserve to be called epic and second through the story told through the lyrics.

This recording is once again a product of the band's trusted collaborations with sound engineer Markus Teske at Bazement Studios.

“The Ghost Xperiment - AwakenIng”, a phenomenal long player, once again proves why Vanden Plas are among prog metal's elite class.

Back in the year that President Kennedy was assassinated and the Beatles first song entered the UK charts, Mick Devine was born in Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia.
Music was always an important part of the Devine family life with his Dad a semi-professional drummer and frequent late night band rehearsals in the home, proved a source of inspiration to the impressionable Mick.
He always had a good singing voice and from a young age was singled out to perform, with impromptu solo school performances through a number of choirs and school bands, the desire to be a professional musician was growing.

Roll on through the teenage years and Mick has moved from the now Zimbabwe to start a new life in Johannesburg South Africa. He was playing in a local band UC27 as a drummer / singer when he met Keith McFarlane from the award winning South African pop group Face to Face who at the time were planning a move to the UK to further their music careers. Mick was invited to join the band as a drummer and Seven was born.

In the UK as the band developed, it was agreed that Mick was a much better singer than drummer and he needed to come out from behind the drums to be the lead singer.
Mick’s first performance as a frontman was at a showcase for CBS Records in London in front of the A&R guru Muff Winwood. Unfortunately no record deal followed.

Shortly afterwards the band secured a support slot on their first nationwide tour with 90’s pop group Brother Beyond where valuable live experience, and a sizeable fan base were earned. It attracted the attention of Phillip Schofield who at the time was a Radio 1 DJ, and started to play their demo’s on his show.
Whilst on this tour, the wife of the head of Polydor Records came to one of the shows and the story goes that she went home and told her husband that he needed to sign the band. Whether true or not a record deal was offered and signed.

This would prove to be the undoing of Seven, as for many years they had been crafting their sound very much in an AOR rock vein and had a number of really credible recordings and tracks. This was around the time when Soul to Soul burst on the scene and the AOR sound was becoming a little out of fashion in the UK. The band had a real ‘Boy Band’ image and their management and record label pushed them in that direction with the hope that it would break them into a larger market.

John Parr was secured to produce the bands two single EP’s, both of which achieved top 75-chart status and further tours supporting The Monkey’s, Jason Donavan and Richard Marx followed. But as with so many bands without major chart success, the record label dropped them before an album was recorded.

Fast forward through 25 years of bringing up a family and earning a living, to a chance conversation between Khalil Turk (Escape Records) and Pat Davey, the original Seven bass player which led to an offer to finally record the Seven album that should have been released in the 90’s.
Sevens first album ’7’ was released to critical acclaim and was followed two years later with a second album ‘Shattered’, an album of newly written original tracks that was equally well received.

During this period Khalil introduced Mick to Steve Morris (Lonerider / Heartland / Ian Gillan Band) and a song writing partnership developed. Over a number of years they wrote numerous songs in a number of musical styles but all tied together with memorable melodies, lyric’s and killer guitar licks.

Once agin Khalil introduced the awesome American producer & musician Brian J Anthony (Lonerider / Steve Walsh /Overland) into this partnership and the result is the first solo album for Mick Devine called ‘Hear Now’ which is due for release on the 18th October 2019 on the Escape Music label.

DOWN 'N' OUTZ Announce Album 'This Is How We Roll' October 11

Artist:
Friday, October 11, 2019
Categories:

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- DOWN 'N' OUTZ, the project headed up by Def Leppard frontman and 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Joe Elliott, are set to release their third studio album, This Is How We Roll, on October 11, 2019 (UMe).

The band, featuring The Quireboys' Paul Guerin (Guitar), Guy Griffin (Guitar) and Keith Weir (keyboards), plus Share Ross (Bass, ex Vixen) and Phil Martini (drums, Wayward Sons), takes a different approach on This Is How We Roll to their previous album. This new album only features one cover version (The Tubes "White Punks On Dope) - alongside eleven original Joe Elliott penned tracks.

Guitarist Guy Griffin says, "(This Is How We Roll) is absolutely fantastic, probably one of the best records I've worked on. It doesn't sound like Leppard or the first two Down n Outz records. It's kind of all the stuff Joe grew up with, a lot of piano type stuff, a bit Elton John, one track a bit 10cc, a couple of good rockers… a real mix of stuff. Joe's voice sounds amazing and it's great fun to do."

Joe Elliott says, "Boy, has this has been a long time coming?! Recorded in infrequent bursts of activity over a 5-year period whenever our respective motherships allowed, I'm extremely proud of what we've achieved with this album. I'm blessed to have worked with such a superb bunch of musicians on this collection of songs. To a man, and woman (!), they completely got my vision of what I wanted us to convey on this record & as usual, working with a world class producer/engineer in Ronan McHugh has guaranteed the sound of the record to be top notch! I couldn't be more proud."

Along with the announcement of the new studio album, Down 'n' Outz also release the rock out of title track and lead single "This Is How We Roll", available to listen to HERE.

From breathless opener "Another Man's War" to the lush "Last Man Standing", to the epic six minute "Let It Shine", this is an album that draws on all the influences that have shaped both Joe Elliott and the previous Down 'n' Outz albums to create a stunning collection of original songs. This Is How We Roll was produced by Joe Elliott with co-production by Ronan McHugh. The album was recorded at Joe Elliott's own studio Joe's Garage.

The album will be available on CD, LP, digitally and also on limited edition 12" Picture Disc LP. This Is How We Roll is now available to pre-order via: https://DownNOutz.lnk.to/ThisIsHowWeRoll

The Down 'n' Outz project was born in 2009 when Mott The Hoople reformed and asked long-time friend and fan Joe Elliott to get involved. Joe formed the Down 'n' Outz with Paul, Guy, Keith and Phil. Together they looked to bring songs by Mott The Hoople and spin off projects of Mott, Ian Hunter and British Lions to a wider audience.

In 2009 Down 'n' Outz supported Mott The Hoople at one of the band's five Hammersmith Apollo shows. The fan interest eventually led to the band looking to put together an album and 2011 saw the release of the critically acclaimed debut My Re-Generation through Mailboat Records (Joe Perry, Walter Becker, Chris Isaak, Jeff Bridges). My Re-Generation included the singles "England Rocks" and "Overnight Angels," that reached No. 4 and No. 1 respectively on the U.S. Media Base Rock chart -keeping Eric Clapton's new single off the top of the chart for 2 weeks. The band then released a live DVD taken from those initial shows called Live at Hammersmith Apollo. A second studio album The Further Adventures of… was released in 2014 and featured the single "Rock and Roll Queen". New bassist Share Ross (Vixen) debuted on 2017's live album and DVD The Further Live Adventures Of…

A stunning live act - having toured with the likes of Paul Rogers across the UK (Including The Royal Albert Hall) and festival performances including High Voltage and Planet Rockstock, Down 'n' Outz are planning live dates to support This Is How We Roll.

6CD/DVD Collection Includes A Newly Remastered Version Of The Top 10 Album, Expanded With Unreleased Studio Recordings, The Band’s 1990 Headlining Set At Castle Donington, Music Videos And A New Interview With David Coverdale

Four Different Versions Will Be Available From Rhino On October 4

LOS ANGELES – Whitesnake scored the band’s third consecutive platinum record with its eighth studio album, Slip of the Tongue. Originally released in November 1989, it peaked at number 10 on the U.K. and U.S. album charts thanks largely to its two Top 40 hits – “Fool For Your Loving” and “The Deeper The Love.” The fan favorite turns 30 this year and Rhino is celebrating with several new versions, including a colossal seven-disc boxed set.

SLIP OF THE TONGUE: 30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION will be available on October 4 for $74.98. The 6CD/DVD collection includes a newly remastered version of the album, plus unreleased studio recordings, audio and video of the band’s performance at the 1990 Monsters of Rock festival, and a new interview with Whitesnake founder and lead singer, David Coverdale. It comes in a 60-page hardbound book filled with rare memorabilia from the era.  For a limited time, Rhino.com will offer the Super Deluxe edition paired with a lithograph signed by David Coverdale for $84.98.

Other versions of Slip of the Tongue will also be available the same day, including double-CD Deluxe Edition, which includes the newly remastered album expanded with a selection of rare and unreleased bonus tracks ($24.98) and a double-LP Deluxe Edition, which features the newly remastered album along with a selection of unique bonus tracks ($31.98).  A single-disc version ($9.98) includes the newly remastered album, along with single B-Sides plus alternate recordings. The music will be available digitally as well.

Following the 8x platinum success of their eponymous album in 1987, Whitesnake returned two years later with Slip of the Tongue. At the time, the band included Coverdale, bassist Rudy Sarzo, drummer Tommy Aldridge, and guitarists Adrian Vandenberg and Steve Vai. Vandenberg and Coverdale co-wrote all but one song on the album, but Vandenberg couldn’t record them in the studio at the time due to a hand injury. To fill the void, Vai joined the band for the album and tour.

SLIP OF THE TONGUE: 30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION features unreleased versions of every album track, as well as monitor mixes for the album recorded in 1989. In addition, the collection includes nearly two dozen previously unreleased tracks taken from the session tapes that highlight working versions of album tracks and more. The set also includes the CD debut of Slip of the Tongue: The Wagging Tongue Edition. Released exclusively on vinyl in 1989, it features Coverdale being interviewed about each track followed by the song.

SLIP OF THE TONGUE: 30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION finishes big with Whitesnake’s 1990 headlining performance at the Monsters of Rock Festival at Castle Donington on CD and DVD. The DVD also includes three music videos, all of which have been carefully restored and remixed in 5.1 Surround Sound for the first time ever. A new promo video for the track “Sweet Lady Luck”, made exclusively for this set, a behind the scenes look at the making of the album, plus a newly recorded interview with Coverdale and Vandenberg rounds out the DVD.

BAND WILL TOUR IN SUPPORT OF UPCOMING RELEASE WITH
APPEARANCES PLANNED IN BOTH THE UNITED STATES AND EUROPE

New York, NY --- Music Theory Recordings / Mascot Label Group and Flying Colors have announced the global release of the band’s third studio album THIRD DEGREE on October 4. The band’s self-titled debut launched a career that has had fans across The World anticipating the magic that emanates from the studio each and every time the five members reconvene. That title was released on March 26, 2012 and was celebrated on both sides of the Atlantic with a Top Ten debut on the Billboard Hard Rock chart, alongside an entry at #11 on the BBC’s Rock Album chart.  SECOND NATURE followed in September, 2014 and was celebrated worldwide. Third Degree will be available as a CD Digipack, limited edition 2LP 180 gram blue vinyl in a gatefold sleeve (w/ download card), a 2LP 180 gram black vinyl in a gatefold sleeve (w/ download card), and a limited edition box set featuring CD, 40 page photobook, two coasters, and a bonus disc with six tracks.

In chemistry, when certain galvanizing elements come together, they become quite explosive. In music, when certain galvanizing artists come together, they become Flying Colors. In fact, whenever the five gentlemen who encompass Flying Colors — guitarist Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Dixie Dregs, ex-Kansas), drummer Mike Portnoy (Winery Dogs, ex-Dream Theater, Transatlantic), keyboardist/vocalist Neal Morse (Transatlantic, ex-Spock’s Beard, and a prolific solo artist in his own right), bassist Dave LaRue (Dixie Dregs, ex-Joe Satriani), and powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Casey McPherson (Alpha Rev, The Sea Within) — are able to conjoin their collective talents, the result is a sweet sonic bouillabaisse that reflects where their inherent mastery of melody intersects with top-shelf progressive musicianship.

And now, Flying Colors soar to even loftier heights with Third Degree, their third studio album in a decade.  Third Degreebuilds upon the genre-bending momentum of 2012’s self-titled Flying Colorsand the aural-template ascension of 2014’s Second Nature. From the skittery psychedelic/classical turnaround of the lead single “More” to the Beach Boys-meet-Asia vibe of “Love Letter” to the deep emotionality of the album-ending, prog-leaning epic “Crawl,” the nine tracks that comprise Third Degreesignify just how much Flying Colors are willing to explore new frontiers. “There’s a lot of ear candy sprinkled throughout every song,” observes Mike Portnoy, “and each one takes you on a little journey. As albums go, Third Degreeis a complete piece that I don’t think ever overstays its welcome. I think it’s an enjoyable ride from start to finish.”

Third Degreecontinues to build upon the deep-rooted musical connection the members of Flying Colors established on their first two boundary-stretching albums. “There’s a real special chemistry between the five of us,” Portnoy confirms. “We keep getting better and better as we get more comfortable and more familiar with each other, and the music itself keeps getting more and more mature.” Adds Steve Morse, “This one, dare I say it, explores new ground for the band. One of my favorites, ‘Geronimo,’ has an upbeat, jazzy, heavy, melodic feel all at once. We just do what makes us smile and sounds good, instead of wondering how critics or program directors will like it. It makes for the best music!”

Casey McPherson concurs with his fellow bandmates by noting, “What Third Degreereally proves to me is that we have our own sound. There are no egos in this band, and we all want the best parts to come out, which is such a joy for me to participate in. I think that really allows people’s uniqueness to show through.” In other words, when five individual musical elements become one, good things inevitably happen. Clarifies Portnoy, “When prog guys like Neal and me join instrumental guys like Steve and Dave, with Casey being the glue in the middle, we’re able to write music that is not only incredibly musical, but also incredibly accessible and melodic.”

That said, Third Degreedid not come effortlessly, nor too quickly. “It took time — but that’s the thing with Flying Colors,” Portnoy admits. “It’s very hard to get the five of us in the same room at the same time. But once we do, it flows so easily.” The first sessions for Third Degreetook place at Steve Morse’s studio in Florida in December 2016, wherein seven songs were written. From there, the bandmembers had to scatter back to their other personal and professional obligations, eventually reconvening two full years later in December 2018, when three more tracks were added to the overall Third Degreemix. (The tenth track, “Waiting for the Sun,” will be made available in forthcoming special editions.)

At this point, Portnoy deployed to Neal Morse’s Nashville studio to cut his drum tracks, while Neal and Casey often got together on Skype, as they’ve done in the past, to hone the lyrics. “Casey and Neal bring incredible levels of humanity and emotion to the lyrics,” admires Portnoy. For his part, McPherson marvels at Neal’s harmonic talents: “That’s really Neal’s brilliance — his ability to stylistically approach harmonies in so many different ways. It just blows my mind every time. It’s like Christmas for me whenever I get Neal’s harmony tracks!” Not only that, but the three-part harmonies between Casey, Neal, and Mike — a hallmark of many a Flying Colors track — again shine through on Third Degree. “It’s an important element of what we do,” agrees Portnoy. “Casey is usually the lead vocalist with Neal and me behind him, though we sometimes switch it up. Either way, the three-part vocals are definitelya key part of the Flying Colors sound.”

As a songwriter, McPherson is never afraid to confront his feelings head-on, whether it’s the nostalgic bent of “Last Train Home” or the raw, relatable universality of “You Are Not Alone.” In short, Third Degreeis a very human record to its core. “For me, music is a platform to sort through the things I’m going through, and it gives the listener the opportunity to do that too,” McPherson believes. “I try to be acutely honest, metaphorically, so that other people can find their own story in our songs — like I hope they will with ‘Crawl.’ Sometimes, we have to be reminded that life is about the overall ebb and flow.” Portnoy agrees that “Crawl” is his personal favorite track on the album. “The minute we finished writing it, I knewit was the album closer, hands down. I knew it right there and then,” he emphatically reports. “It’s the one new song of ours I most look forward to playing live.”

To that end, Flying Colors have booked nine live dates on their calendar, mostly split evenly between the U.S. and Europe — in essence, to perform as many shows for their fans as they can possibly fit in between their many other band and touring commitments. “There’s an evolution happening within our sound on this record, and I’m excited to explore that onstage,” McPherson notes. “We’ve seen that evolution start with this record, and we’re going to see it happen even more so on the fourth record, in terms of capturing all our beautiful differences.”

Another progression has been the band’s use of technology to provide industry-leading sound. Third Degreewas engineered with the award-winning Harmonic Phrase Analysis and Restoration (HPAR) technology. Developed by the band’s resident mad scientist, Bill Evans (also rumored to have approached the fantastic five about forming the band), he created HPAR based on the group’s performance styles — resulting in unprecedented fidelity. Flying Colors regular producer Rich Mouser (The Neal Morse Band, Transatlantic) then crafted a sumptuous mix in his inimitable style.

Portnoy agrees the future of Flying Colors looks quite bright indeed. “Our mission statement when we came together is still the same now,” he affirms. “It’s the same five guys with extremely different musical personalities and backgrounds coming together into a giant melting pot where it all comes out on the other end with music that’s accessible, melodic, deep, and colorful. That’s always been the goal of this band, and so far, I think we’re three for three.”
With Third Degree, Flying Colors continue to fire on all cylinders — and, in the process, they also handily prove the third time’s an unquestionable sonic charm.

Hanover Fist’s self-titled debut album might just be one of the greatest ‘80s heavy metal albums you’ll ever hear. If you’ve never heard it before then prepare to have your head re-arranged by its truly explosive power. Escape Music now proudly re-issues the original Canadian issued version on CD for the first time, correctly reinstating that version’s running order with the added bonus of liner notes by Dave Reynolds and the full involvement of vocalist Frank Zirone.

The album first appeared in 1985 and became a top selling import in the UK. The Toronto based outfit should’ve gone on to greater heights, but sadly the band’s story is an all too familiar one of outstanding ability and a bright future being all too quickly blighted and ultimately cut short by baffling record label and managerial decisions.

Hanover Fist’s debut LP was released in Canada in early 1985 and featured one of the most imaginative pieces of artwork ever to grace an album sleeve. Take a closer look and you’ll see a vinyl album under construction! It was all the work of Dean Motter (who could count LP covers for Zon, Loverboy, Anvil, Sheriff, Chilliwack, The Nylons, Triumph, Toronto, Lee Aaron and The Arrows on his CV up to that point).

Sadly, Motter’s impressive work wasn’t around long enough to be admired by as many as it should. There were some strange goings on behind the scenes and the album was no longer available for sale domestically after a mere two months. Upon the advice of MCA in the States, Frank signed with a US based management company and the album was released in America a few months after the original Canadian version had disappeared from view; albeit with some pretty sweeping changes being made to it before it hit retail; not least the album’s artwork being changed from Dean Motter’s engineering masterpiece to a depiction of a snarling black panther. Not only was the album re-titled ‘Hungry Eyes’ (so named after one of the songs on the original release) and the running order overhauled with two songs removed and a cover of Bryan Adams’ ‘Fits Ya Good’ added as the revised album’s opening track, but the band name was shortened to Hanover!

“The manager we hooked up with had something of a political conscience,” Frank diplomatically notes. “This was around the time when the PMRC were making noises in the States, so that’s why the cover got changed and we lost the ‘Fist’ part of the band name.”

Dates with Autograph, Heaven, a three month stint with Saxon and selective shows on their own, including gigs in Missouri and Arkansas followed, but the band would ultimately run out of steam. “The original vision had been compromised with the name of the band being shortened, the album cover being changed and especially the running order of the record being vastly different to the original version,” Frank explains. “There was not much drive to continue as the whole thing had been manipulated into something completely different from what we had originally created.”

Yet now the Hanover Fist album can be enjoyed in its original form once more. “It was interrupted mid-stream the first time just as we were on a major trajectory, but we’re back and the re-mastering on this Escape Music reissue is just fantastic!” Zirone enthuses. “It’s so very close to how the original studio sessions were in sound.”

Give in to the Metal of the night!
