The band has now launched an EPK for the album, which can be viewed here:

The album is currently available for pre-order in various configurations on Amazon – Standard Edition (http://geni.us/WSPurpleREGamz), Deluxe Edition (http://amzn.to/17Xxc2P) featuring 2 bonus tracks, 4 music videos and a behind the scenes featurette on the recording of the album, and in a double LP vinyl format.  Plans are also underway for a special limited box set edition with memorabilia and merchandise.  All details will be announced soon.

"It’s a tribute. A homage. It’s a huge thank you from me to Deep Purple for the opportunity I was given over 40 years ago," says Coverdale. "As I said to Richie, you guys set me on an incredible journey that continues today and I couldn’t have asked for better teachers. The university of Deep Purple is an extraordinary, amazing school to learn from. We can’t wait to play these songs in concert."

From the opening notes of the classic track "Burn" to album closer "Stormbringer", Whitesnake are back and better than ever. Songs like "Lady Double Dealer", "Soldier of Fortune" and "Sail Away" are given a new energy in the very capable hands of the current Whitesnake line-up featuring David Coverdale on vocals, Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra on guitars, Michael Devin on bass and Tommy Aldridge on drums.

Whitesnake was formed in England in 1978 by Coverdale. The band has released multi-platinum selling albums throughout the years and have been known for hits such as "Slide It In," "Here I Go Again", "Still Of The Night" and "Is This Love". RIP Free's ANDY FRASER

Another day, another tragic loss for the music world. Free's bass player/songwriter ANDY FRASER has died at the age of just 62.

In the years between, that song became the gift-that-keeps-on-giving (All Right Now), generating millions of dollars for its authors. It was a No. 1 hit in over 20 countries and was recognized by ASCAP in 1990 for over 1 million radio plays in the U.S. alone. By Oct. of 2006, it passed the 3 million mark in plays in the U.K.

In 2005, the musician put out an extremely personal solo album, “Naked and Finally Free.” He came out as a gay man in an interview I conducted with him for the national gay and lesbian magazine The Advocate that year.
In more recent years, politics became more important to Fraser. He wrote a song to support the election of Barack Obama and donated proceeds from various songs to progressive and humanitarian causes. He also mentored young artists, like the guitar prodigy Tobi Earnshaw, producing albums for him and playing in his band.

At the time of his death, Fraser had talked about going on tour with Frankie Miller, another classic singer in the ‘60s British blues-rock mold.
The musician is survived by two daughters, Hannah and Jasmine Fraser.
For fans, Fraser will be remembered as a key player in rock’s golden age, a star who could use any instrument to create melodies and rhythms you couldn’t get out of your head.

RIP Drummer BRUCE CRUMP (China Sky, Molly Hatchet)

More bad news from the rock community - the death of drummer BRUCE CRUMP.

His China Sky bandmates posted this earlier today:

"It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the passing of our brother, Bruce Crump.

This sudden tragedy is like a kick to the gut. We could not have lost a more truly decent human being than Bruce. Our hearts go out to his wife Kristen, his mom, children, and family.

Not only was Bruce a genuinely nice person, but his talent was even bigger than his heart. When he agreed to join us in China Sky, we were humbled that THE Bruce Crump deemed us worthy of his time and talent, and boy, were we ever better off for it. We could not be more proud of the work he did on "China Sky II" and we are forever grateful to him.

I think we can all take just a bit of solace in the fact that he left us with so much of his talent on record over his 35 plus year career. I know his rock solid grooves, and the music he helped create, will be gracing many turntables, tape machines, ipods, smartphones, and whatever technology music comes out of tonight, tomorrow, and for many years to come."

UK Cult Classic Rock Group SAD CAFE Documentary DVD

Artist:
Monday, March 23, 2015

At home on stage and in the studio, seven-piece Sad Cafe followed 10cc out of Manchester and into the charts.

This hour-long TV showcase from the Rockstage series, filmed by Central Television, Nottingham, in 1980, majors on the hit album 'Facades', and includes the hits 'Strange Little Girl', 'Every Day Hurts' and 'My Oh My'.

Fronted by charismatic singer Paul Young, who went on to find success with Genesis spin-off, Mike + The Mechanics, and who sadly passed away in 2000, Sad Caf' were at their peak in 1980 coming off of the success of their top 5 hit, 'Every Day Hurts' from the top 10 album 'Facades'

Paul's wife Pat Young, drummer Dave Irving and guitarist Ashley Mulford have supplied their memories of a night that caught Sad Cafe at the height of their performing powers.

They were arguably a band out of time in the new-wave era, but their musicianship and showmanship has stood the test of time.

This set, released in the UK on March 23rd, features a full DVD of the performance and a bonus CD of the entire show. Find Sad Caf' on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/SadCafeTourDatesAndNews

JOE MATERA Continues Guitar Legacy with 'Louder Than Words'

LOUDER THAN WORDS - JOE MATERA

Press Release: For Australian rocker Joe Matera, 'Louder Than Words', makes it clear from the outset that he has moved on both musically and lyrically. Words have now gathered and drifted in top position on half of the songs, now carrying darker, headier themes that seem fittingly in sync with the times we find ourselves living through.
Take Joe's brief and precocious opener, 'Intro 1 V'. Just a morsel, really, but one that offers hints of Nine Inch Nails and elements of Germanic angst. Not a strain that has featured too heavily in Joe's previous outings. The darkness floods through the preceding single and title song.

Thumping slowly through a rhythmic, a song of self-analysis, ironically suggesting that images, symbols and, I guess, sounds can speak louder to the soul that words. Within the context of this album, with its array of lyrical themes, a lovely juxtaposition. Throughout the nine tracks, there remains one constant. I refer to my opening statement. Today's Joe Matera sound is a gargantuan, grey, rolling tank, softened beautifully by the cushion of production. On top of this gentle darkness sit both lyrics and melodies that, in place, evoke the most unlikely genres. Take 'Movin' On', slotting neatly in place here is a most unexpected hint of '80s pop ... that bright, brash, courageously unpretentious glare that gave us such glorious lightness. A song that, indeed, flits between the black and the white.

And that is the key to the entire album, really. A truly unexpected place where eclecticism marries traditional tendencies. In an age when simplistic genre template artists remain depressingly in place, here is an album of the guitar, the voice and other machines. Louder Than Words is officially released via W.A.R. Productions/Mercury Fire Music on April 28, 2015.
