Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release of DGM’s first live album, entitled “Passing Stages”, on June 2.

DGM’s last album (their eighth), “The Passage” was released in August 2016 and marked the culmination of almost 20 years of hard work that started back in 1997 and has pushed the Italian band into the elite rankings of the international progressive metal scene. Over the years, DGM has managed to tour the world, taking part in some of the biggest and most celebrated metal festivals around the globe and sharing the stage with the likes of Heaven and Hell, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Avantasia, Scorpions, and many others.

With a bulletproof line-up comprised of producer/guitarist Simone Mularoni, singer Marco Basile, bassist Andrea Arcangeli, drummer Fabio Costantino, and keyboardist Emanuele Casali, DGM can now share their awesome musicianship and songwriting skills with all audiences via the release of this truly beautiful live release!

“Passing Stages” is the best possible illustration of what DGM are capable of on a stage these days,” says Simone Mularoni. “We put our hearts and souls into the making this one and managed to capture magical nights that we'll remember forever. In our career, "Passing Stages" will be a milestone in our discography and a great conclusion of the first decade of this line-up. Here’s to the future.”

Herein are captured two separate performances for fans to enjoy via audio on CD and MP3 and visually via DVD or Blu-Ray. The first show is the entire performance held in front of the inaugural Frontiers Metal Festival, in Trezzo Sull’Adda (Milano) on October 30, 2016 and has a set-list centered around the latest album, “The Passage.” “We wanted to show to the whole world how great the Italian fans are and how much we love to play in our home country, and we had the best occasion with the first edition of Frontiers Metal Festival,” continues Simone. “With our last album, "The Passage,” I think we managed to reach an even bigger crowd and that particular day was really one of a kind...the best Italian live club, packed with fans, together with a lot of friends and a gig focused on the last album.”

The second show captured sees the band in action at the ProgPower USA in Atlanta, GA on September 11, 2014. The setlist shows an emphasis on the albums “Frame” and “Momentum”. “Our second time at ProgPower USA was an important step of the "Momentum" tour and filming that evening was mandatory,” explains Simone. “We felt the warmth of the crowd, we worked with fabulous technicians and with one of the best crews ever. The atmosphere pervading the Center Stage in Atlanta is unique and we did our best to honor this awesome festival with a performance at the top of our abilities. I'm pretty sure that whoever watches the concert will feel like being right in front of the stage singing with us.”

This is an unmissable opportunity to witness the superb qualities of the Italian quintet in the live environment and also opens the door to newer fans (of which there are quite a few) to experience their excellent and older repertoire.

You need a bit of variety in your music and this month it is DGM from Italy, presenting their 8th studio album! Yes, 8. This is however the first I’ve heard from them, but it’s enough to get my attention right from the start.
Performing a mix of progressive metal and European symphonic hard rock, Evergrey singer Tom Englund and Symphony X guitarist Michael Romeo both appear as special guests and the band thanks both bands plus Secret Sphere, Pagan’s Mind and Circus Maximus in their liner notes.
That should give you some indication of where the band sits musically.

That established, it is all about the songs and much like others of this ilk, this record is not a one-listen and appreciate kind of deal. Its only over repeated listens that the true melodies and the intricacies of the songs show themselves.
There’s a lot of Dream Theater in these guys too. The hooks and chorus structures aren’t obvious, but they are there.
Songs range from 2 to 8 minutes in length, with melodies often revealing themselves in the vocals within verses, much like that of Circus Maximus.

I can’t quite rank this album up with the artists that influence the sound of DGM, but the impressive and likeable lead vocals, plus the intelligent arrangements and powerful performances do make this album one to remember and check out if you’re a fan of the progressive way of life.

DGM Line Up 8th Album 'The Passage' On Frontiers

Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release of the brand new album from Italian prog metal masters DGM, entitled 'The Passage', on August 26.

'The Passage' is DGM's eighth studio album and is the culmination of almost 20 years of hard work that started back in 1997 with the release of their self-produced mini-album, 'Random Access Zone'. The band went through several incarnations and lineup changes during the years, but since singer Mark Basile joined the group in 2007, DGM evolved and developed their sound into what they have now become.

It was probably the release of 'Frame' (2007) that pushed the band into the top of the league of international prog metal. It was also on the strength of this material that DGM managed to tour for almost four years around the world, taking part in some of the biggest metal festivals, supporting Symphony X on their European tour, and sharing the stage with Pagan's Mind too. In 2013, DGM came back with "Momentum", an album which showed the full stylistic maturity of a band which felt fully confident with their abilities, both on the songwriting and the musicianship side. The last album was promoted with more shows and after several gigs in Europe, they performed for the second time at ProgPower USA and started their first Asian tour in November 2014 playing Beijing, Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka as headliners.

The new album, 'The Passage' is another substantial step forward for DGM. Sounding like a hungry, urbanized version of Symphony X, with substantial hard rock influences, the new record is remarkable in several aspects. The compositions are phenomenal, with sweeping choruses, technical passages, lightning fast fretwork, big vocals and bombastic transitions. The playing is simply faultless and the melodies are perfectly woven into the killer guitars, epic keyboards, and pounding drums!

'This album can easily be seen as our most ambitious work to date,' says guitarist and producer Simone Mularoni. 'This time we tried to evolve to an even more personal sound. We took all the elements we developed through all these years and we tried to take them to the limit. Throughout the whole record you will hear a recurrent musical theme. Instead of doing a usual concept album with the lyrics, we decided to do a sort of musical concept with this melody that repeats in every song but every time with different time signatures and keys,' tells drummer Fabio Costantino. 'This album will offer to the listener a key for a positive dimension. A path made of sound vibrations: The Passage to our dreams and hopes,' concludes bassist Andrea Arcangeli.

Evergrey singer Tom Englund and Symphony X guitarist Michael Romeo also appear as special guests tributing the value of this outstanding album. And let's not forget the great job that producer Simone Mularoni did in the studio! The future looks bright for these guys! Check them out live when they come to a town near you!

'The Passage' tracklisting includes: The Secret (Part 1); The Secret (Part 2); Animal; Ghosts Of Insanity; Fallen; The Passage; Disguise; Portrait; Daydreamer; Dogma; In Sorrow.
