BLOODBOUND Launch 'War Of Dragons' February 24

It’s been an impressive journey for BLOODBOUND: The Swedish power metal commando has become more and more popular in recent years. All this falls back on talent and hard work: Since 2005 BLOODBOUND have not only released six studio albums and a Live DVD/CD, they’ve also toured with giants such as Sabaton, HammerFall and U.D.O. - in the process winning over a very devoted and loyal fanbase of metalheads.

So it doesn’t come as a surprise that BLOODBOUND’s next career move would be a headlining tour now – armed with their brand new studio album, titled ‘War Of Dragons’. It’s basically a continuation of the successful ‘Stormborn’ (2014), but offering more fast-paced tracks, without lacking the anthemic feel the band is known for. BLOODBOUND are masters in combining melody with power and ‘War Of Dragons’ perfectly displays the evolution that the band has gone through since their debut ‘Nosferatu’.

BLOODBOUND was founded in summer 2004 by Tomas Olsson and Fredrik Bergh. Soon they recorded a demo and received contract offers for Europe and Asia instantly. The debut ‘Nosferatu’ was released in 2006 and yielded best critiques. Consequently they played shows with bands like Sabaton, Arch Enemy, Pretty Maids and Evergrey. But 2006 also brought line-up changes which didn’t pass unnoticed, particularly as singer Urban Breed left BLOODBOUND after the tour.

But soon Michael Bormann (ex-Jaded Heart) was found to fill the gap and so the second album ‘Book Of The Dead’ was recorded and released in 2007. It became the band’s first album entering the album chart in Sweden. But shortly after the release of ‘Book Of The Dead’ it was quite obvious - Michael´s other obligations did not allow enough time for BLOODBOUND. To play the already booked shows they could convince Urban Breed to return to the band. And it became more than some gigs. Urban stayed for another tour (supporting HammerFall) and recorded the next album ‘Tabula Rasa’ with the band on which more modern and progressive elements have been added to BLOODBOUND’s sound. Numerous festival shows as well as another tour with HammerFall followed.
But in 2010 the band parted ways with Urban Breed again. On their search for a new vocalist they found the man to finally give BLOODBOUND continuity: Patrik J Selleby, who was not only a great vocalist and frontman, but a friend.

A much noticed return in shape of 2011’s ‘Unholy Cross’ album showed BLOODBOUND return to their old sound, just one and a half years later ‘In The Name Of Metal’ continued in this vein and especially with 2014’s ‘Stormborn’, BLOODBOUND made a whole lot of new fans. The band has toured with Sabaton and U.D.O. in recent years, released a Live DVD/CD (‘One Night Of Blood’) in February 2016 and simply can’t wait to unleash what they’ve been working on for a while now: ‘War Of Dragons’. This new release will see BLOODBOUND tour as headliners in March/April (special guest being their label mates Crystal Viper). So, it looks like one of Sweden’s premier metal acts is keeping it busy – more than ever!

Given that the debut album was songs mainly gathered from the past, I wasn’t sure we’d even get a second Seven album. But here it is and it’s great!
Vocalist Mick Devine as one of those ‘born for AOR’ voices and the music – even though delivered by a slightly different lineup, this is almost as good as the brilliant debut.

This time around only vocalist Mick remains, but the team of Andy Loos (bass), Fredrik Bergh (keys) and Lars Chriss (production, guitars, drums) who helped reconstruct the debut are present again, so the sound remains intact.
Up tempo Foreigner/Heartland/Signal style AOR and melodic rock is what we have here.

Light Of 1000 Eyes may be a good opener, but A Better Life is pure brilliance; while a moodier Fight has Mark Free written all over it. Other highlights include the high impact keyboard drenched Shattered; the anthemic High Hopes and the intense Last Illusion.
But that said, there’s no fillers here and folks are going to like different tracks more than others depending on mood.

It just needs to be stated that this is a very fine album indeed and a worthy sequel to the debut, if not quite as catchy, but still a great sound and a very well-produced example of classic AOR with a contemporary production.

NIVA Gets Heavier on 'Atmospherical'

Artist:

In the realms of melodic metal, Sweden's Lion's Share has been synonymous with class and quality for over two decades. Not least thanks to a succession of great vocalists: Andy Engberg (220 Volt, Sorcerer, Section A), Nils Patrik Johansson (Astral Doors, Wuthering Heights, Civil War et al)... and who else? Oh yes - Tony Niva, the vocal powerhouse from Lion's Share's seminal fourth album ”Entrance” (2001).

NIVA MUSIC GROUP in co-operation with AOR Heaven now will release the new and sixth album by NIVA on October 28.

Tony Niva started singing as a young boy in the mid-80s, inspired by the likes of Dio, Joe Lynn Turner and Geoff Tate. After cutting his teeth in classic acts like Swedish Erotica and Axia, Tony formed his own outfit NIVA whose debut album ”No Capitulation” arrived in 1994 (featuring Ian Haugland of Europe/Glenn Hughes fame behind the kit). Despite the quality of this melodic affair, NIVA folded shortly afterwards. After graduating from the university, Tony joined Lion's Share long enough to record the aforementioned ”Entrance” and left the music scene again shortly afterwards. However, in 2011 Tony tried out for the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest with the song ”Janitor of Love”. With limited success, on paper. Creatively the result was so satisfying that Tony extended his collaboration with his new songwriting team. NIVA's comeback album ”Gold From the Future” was released in Japan in the fall of 2011. (On the European and American market, the album was released under the moniker Oxygen and entitled ”Final Warning”.)

"I've been focusing on my career in the IT business, so I didn't make much music between 1994 and 2011", says Tony. But after that second NIVA album, I made two more: ”Magnitude” in 2013 and ”Incremental IV” in 2014. And after that, I thought I might as well release what I recorded in 1995 as the intended follow-up to ”No Capitulation”: ”Relievin' Rain” (2015). Now, however, I'm back with a whole new incarnation of NIVA. On this new album, I wanted to broaden my horizons. Different production, a heavier sound. So I've been working with Lars Chriss, my old pal from the Lion's Share days.

Lars Chriss, now a highly renowned producer with the likes of Overland, Chris Ousey, Radioactive, Seven and Lugnet on his resumé, has lent his producing, song-writing and guitar-playing skills to NIVA's sixth outing, ”Atmospherical”. Don't let the title fool you - NIVA has definitely moved away from the AOR-ish, comparative softness on previous works.

"This is more of a melodic metal sound", Tony agrees. "It rocks harder, it's more riff-based and the keyboards are less prominent."

Obviously. Besides Lars and Tony himself, former Lion's Share luminaries Kay Backlund (keyboards) and monster bassist Andy Loos (also of Glory, Seven, Covered Call fame - to name but a few) have also lent their considerable skills to the creation of ”Atmospherical”. The album even includes a stellar remake of Lion's Share 1988 debut single, ”I'm on a roll”. So the Lion's Share reminiscence is very much intentional.

Line-up: Tony Niva - Lead vocals; Lars Chriss - Lead and rhythm guitars, Drums; Andy Loos - Bass; Kay Backlund - Keyboards (Dressed To Kill, Wall Of Bricks, Spirit Of The Night, Déj-  Vu, I’m On A Roll, Evil Rose, Raise Your Voice); Fredrik Bergh - Keyboards (The Mountain, Play Our Songs, Forbidden Lover); Nigel Bailey - Backing vocals (appears courtesy of Frontiers Records Srl); Mick Devine - Additional backing vocals (Evil Rose, Wall Of Bricks); George Bailey - Additional backing vocals (Dressed To Kill)

SEVEN Storm Back With 'Shattered' Sept. 23

Artist:

Escape Music Press Release / The acclaimed melodic rock outfit SEVEN return with their second album 'Shattered', out via Escape Music September 23.

Mick Devine - Lead Vocals
Lars Chriss - guitars, drums
Andy Loos - Bass
Fredrik Bergh - Keyboards
Kay Backlund - Keyboards
Guest vocals Nigel Bailey and Lin Devine

Produced and Mixed by Lars Chriss
Executive Producer : Khalil Turk
Mastered by Mike Lind

Tracks: Light Of 1000 Eyes / A Better Life / Fight / Shattered / Live This Life / Pieces Of You / Broken Dream / High Hopes / I Needed Time / Taking Over / Last Illusion

SEVEN originate from the AOR scene in the late eighties where Polydor records having been fairly successful in the U.K with the likes of
Magnum and Little Angels, set their sights on SEVEN, a relatively unknown act that had started life as a successful South African group,
reformed to hit the big time in the UK.

SEVEN toured extensively supporting an eclectic variety of acts that included the likes of Jason Donovan, Richard Marx, The Monkees and
Brother Beyond. It’s a time period that Mick Devine is keen to reminisce about, “Even though they were out and out pop gigs, we loved the
crowds and the noise. We went from pubs to opening to 3000 screaming fans in Southampton. It is a very addictive adrenaline rush. We got to
play all the top venues, which were fantastic; including Wembley Arena, the NEC, BIC, SEC and even the Royal Albert Hall. The Richard Marx
tour was definitely the best for us with a more grown up audience we were able to rock it up and truly be ourselves. It went down really
well!”

Entering the recording studios, with John Parr at the production helm, they recorded two very strong singles in the shape of “Inside Love” and
“Man with A Vision” both of which achieved moderate success in the UK.

In 2014 the original bass player Pat Davey was working alongside Robert Hart on an Escape Music album when the name SEVEN cropped up in
the conversation. It would seem that Khalil Turk was a big fan, as Devine explains, “Yeah, back in the day Khalil had really loved the band and
he got in touch to see if we would be interested in finally releasing an album,” Without too much convincing the project was born.
The production talents of Lars Chriss (who’s repertoire includes albums with Steve Overland, Chris Ousey) were enlisted to
produce the band’s debut album called ‘7’, which was released to critical acclaim and was held up as one of the “Albums of the Year” on
many lists.

SEVEN was born again!

Following the success of the first album, a passion was re-kindled within Devine & McFarlane, who began work on new material, and along
with the writing talents of Lars Chriss, Fredrik Bergh, Andy Loos, Kay Backlund and Jeff Paris, that passion was given focus and a place to
come to life. What they discovered was a well of untapped creativity that had been hidden for far too long and the songs poured out.

SEVEN ‘Shattered’ is a collection of wonderfully catchy songs that rely on clean and memorable melodies that allow Devine’s distinctive voice
to shine through. It was Devine who took the lead in writing the lyrics on this album, matching the intensity and feel of the music to deliver a
modern melodic rock album with influences ranging from hints of Foreigner in “A Better Life” and “Broken Dream”, Journey in “High Hopes”
and even traces of Magnum in “Light of 1000 Eyes” and “Last Illusion”.

The lyrical themes are drawn from a depth of life experience and observations and are heartfelt and real. The production talents of Lars
Chriss and the line up of truly great musicians, deliver an album of depth and variation which ranges from driving guitar-led tracks with
memorable riffs to melodic anthems, all backed by stunning keys, bass and standout solo’s. It is an album that is a worthy follow-up to the
critically acclaimed ‘7’.

This album represents a natural progression for SEVEN and it features 11 stunning tracks that are laden with great musical performances and
soaring vocals, and while being fresh and up to date, they have bite and edge and yet remain melodic and catchy
This is one superb follow up album that will not disappoint.

Produced by Rob Moratti

Canadian singer Rob Moratti has had a varied career to date, he first appeared as a songwriter and lead vocalist in the early 90’s for the band “Moratti” and two fine albums were recorded “Desolation” in 1995 and “Legends of Tomorrow” in 1997.
He then took centre stage in the band “Final Frontier” alongside Mladen from Von Groove, a band that went on to record 4 albums and gained a cult following in Europe and Japan. The band played exciting hard melodic rock set apart by Rob’s powerful vocals.

In 2008 Rob was chosen to replace Michael Sadler in the band “Saga”, a fine accolade indeed, and he featured on the 2009 album “Human Condition” as well as touring extensively with the band. Sadler returned to Saga and so Rob went on to record a solo project “Victory” in 2011 with Escape Music. “Victory” had an impressive line-up that included Reb Beach (Whitesnake) and Tony Franklin (The Firm). The album was an instant success and has since become a firm favourite with fans all around the world.

Recently Rob recorded a fine tribute to the band “Journey”, the band that influenced him greatly in his youth, this recording was limited to 1000 numbered units and has since sold out. In addition he provided vocals for the Rage of Angels CD “The Devil’s New Tricks”, an album that really sees his vocals reach new heights.
That brings us to 2016 and Rob has completed his second solo outing “Transcendent” which sees him giving his best performance yet, his vocals have never sounded better as he sings his heart out throughout all 13 tracks. This is Melodic Rock at its very best and with band members that include Torben Enevoldsen and Tony Franklin we are set for a real treat. Guesting on guitar is Saga’s own Michael Crichton, exciting times indeed.

Rob’s career is starting to really take shape, this is one monster album.

Since the release of ‘V’ in 2006, STREET TALK has been on hiatus, but Fredrik has been as busy as ever as a founding member of melodic metal band Bloodbound as well as writing and working with such artists as Revolution Saints, Steve Augeri, Steve Overland, Joe Lynn Turner, Rob Moratti, Harry Hess, Bob Halligan jr, Phenomena, Seven and Anette Olzon

Further details of the reissues will be available soon, but in the meantime, please enjoy one song from each of the albums:

From ‘V’ – Responsible

From ‘Restoration’ – Why Is My Heart Feeling Lonely Tonight

From ‘Transition’ – If Anybody Breaks Your Heart

MelodicRock Records is excited to announce a partnership with Swedish AOR favourites STREET TALK for a limited reissue of the band’s best three albums.

On August 30 and limited to just 500 units each, MRR will reissue the STREET TALK albums ‘Transition’ (from 2000); ‘Restoration’ (from 2002) and the AOR classic ‘V’ (from 2006).
All three albums are long out of print, highly sought after and when listed, fetch tidy sums on Ebay.

The new MRR reissues will feature exclusive new artwork and each album will feature several bonus tracks, which will be revealed shortly, along with details of a pre-order deal for all three albums.

STREET TALK is the brainchild of Swedish keyboardist/songwriter FREDRIK BERGH. Their debut came in 1997 with the album ‘Collaboration’.
The album featured, amongst others, guest vocalist Göran Edman who would continue to work with Fredrik throughout the Street Talk history.

In 2000, the album ‘Transition’ was released featuring Goran again on a set of smooth Westcoast/AOR tunes.
