JIMI HENDRIX SPECIAL WITH KATHY ETCHINGHAM, PLUS GEORGE LYNCH (LYNCH MOB/SWEET LYNCH) INTERVIEW ON RICH DAVENPORT'S ROCK SHOW

Rich Davenport's Rock Show this week features interviews with Jimi Hendrix's long-term girlfriend Kathy Etchingham and guitar hero George Lynch (Lynch Mob, Sweet Lynch), and is now available for streaming at this link: http://www.mixcloud.com/richdav1/rich-davenports-rock-show-jimi-hendrix-special-with-kathy-etchingham-george-lynch-interview/

Kathy Etchingham, long-term girlfriend of Jimi Hendrix during the '60s, sets the record straight to defend both Jimi's memory and herself against the many negative allegations made in the recent movie 'Jimi: All Is By My Side', which features scenes in which Kathy is violently assaulted by Hendrix, among other events, about which Kathy states, 'None of these things ever happened', and offers to produce her medical records to prove that no assaults took place. Kathy gives an eye witness account of life with Jimi from the first day he arrived in London, and offers fascinating insights into the formation of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Jimi's songwriting process, the recording of 'All Along The Watchtower', and life in swinging London with a rock legend at the point at which his career began, and later took off.

The show also features guitar hero George Lynch, who discusses the writing and recording of the new albums by Lynch Mob ('Sun Red Sun') and Sweet / Lynch ('Only To Rise'). George chooses two songs from each release, and talks about possible touring plans for both bands.

You can also listen on Sunday 1st February 15:00-17:00, Tuesday 3rd February 12:00-14:00 and Thursday 5th January 07:00-09:00 on  www.totalrock.com

You could spend a week discussing the musical heritage and history of Michael Sweet and George Lynch alone, but then there’s also bassist James Lomenzo and drummer Brian Tichy to consider. So in the interest of time, I’ll presume everyone reading this is well aware of the accomplishments of all these great folk. It’s actually almost unbelievable they are gathered on the one record.

Unlike some other cobbled together supergroups or all-star projects, when Michael Sweet was pitched this idea, he loved it so much he took over completely - asking to produce the album as well as co-writing the 12 tracks with guitarist Lynch.
And that’s what makes this album gel so well and why this works – the songs are all written in-house and therefore are a true representative mix of both artists’ attributes and influences.
It is a great mix of Sweet and Stryper’s recent melodic hard rock output with that classic Lynch Mob groove-n-sleaze.

The first 4 tracks are especially inspiring. The pump of The Wish and the groove and chorus of Like A Dying Rose, then the rock ballad Love Stays and the groovy free flowing Time Will Tell - all catchy tunes and all impressive representation of the talents involved.
Other highlights include the atmospheric slow burner Me Without You; the fast moving rock-n-groove of Recover; the moody September and the darker, rhythm driven Hero-Zero.
The album finishes with an old school melodic metal track Only To Rise.

A hard rocking album from start to finish, which I’m very impressed with. Production is well suited for the style of the music and most impressive of all is the fact all songs were co-written by Lynch and Sweet for this new partnership.
On the basis of the quality of what has been delivered here, fans enthusiastic reaction and plans to tour this mean this is one star project that looks set to go the distance.
One of my favourite releases from both main participants.

MICHAEL SWEET AND GEORGE LYNCH TEAM UP FOR NEW SUPERGROUP SWEET & LYNCH

Debut Album Only To Rise Slated for Release in January
via Frontiers Music SRL

Exclusive Pre-Order Available via PledgeMusic at http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/sweetlynch

Two of hard rock’s most notable figures have partnered up for a new project. Iconic vocalist/guitarist Michael Sweet of Stryper and legendary guitarist George Lynch of Lynch Mob/Dokken have teamed up to form a new supergroup Sweet & Lynch. Joining them on this new musical adventure is bassist James Lomenzo and drummer Brian Tichy. The band will be releasing their debut album Only To Rise on January 23rd 2015 in Europe and January 27th, 2015 in North America via Frontiers Music Srl. Sweet & Lynch recently launched a pre-order for the new album via PledgeMusic. The pre-order features various bundle packages for fans and is live at:

"When I was approached to help put together an all-star lineup, instantly I thought of George Lynch,” explains Michael Sweet. “George is one of the most talented guitarists out there and a ‘bucket list’ player for me. George wrote riffs/basic ideas and I wrote melodies, lyrics and arranged and completed the songs. I knew that we would compliment each other's style. When you add the amazing rhythm section of Brian Tichy and James Lomenzo, you just can't go wrong with this line-up. It really is a special project and I'm honored to be a part of it!"

From the opening notes of “The Wish” to the drum solo finish on the album-closer “Only To Rise,” it is evident that this musical partnership between Michael Sweet’s unmistakable voice and George Lynch’s signature guitar tone has yielded incredible results. Songs “Like A Dying Rose,” “Me Without You” and “Strength In Numbers” showcase the diversity that permeates throughout the entire album. Sweet & Lynch released a lyric video for the 9/11 inspired track “September” which can be seen here: http://youtu.be/i5G5uzrYWXw. An EPK featuring Michael and George discussing this new project can be seen here: http://youtu.be/BPYIoe0fTqI. Only To Rise was produced by Michael Sweet who also produced the last Stryper album, No More Hell To Pay, which received massive fan praise and critical acclaim alike.

The track listing for Only To Rise is:

1)      The Wish
2)      Dying Rose
3)      Love Stays
4)      Time Will Tell
5)      Rescue Me
6)      Me Without You
7)      Recover
8)      Divine
9)      September
10)   Strength In Numbers
11)   Hero-Zero
12)   Only To Rise

Plans are currently being worked out for Sweet & Lynch to play a few live shows in the Spring of next year, making this different than any other supergroups that record together but never play live. More information will be announced in the near future. If the past records of these four musicians are any indication, no fan will want to miss these shows.

SWEET/LYNCH - A 4-Track Preview Of Debut Album

Artist:
Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Vocalist Michael Sweet (Stryper) and guitarist George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob) have teamed up for SWEET/LYNCH, an album designed by Frontiers Records CEO Serafino, which is due for release early in 2015.
I’ve been fortunate enough to preview 4 tracks from the upcoming album and can’t speak highly enough of the tracks!

Both Lynch and Sweet impress the hell out of me on these tracks and the backing band of James Lomenzo (Megadeth, White Lion, Black Label Society) and drummer Brian Tichy (S.U.N., Whitesnake) means that if these four tracks are anything to go by, all the songs written for this album are going to be hammered home by this ultra-powerful rhythm section.

Sweet just sounds extraordinarily good on these songs. And Lynch is shredding and riffing like a man possessed. This is something big to look forward to.

Briefly – the four tracks I have heard are:

The Wish – A brilliant, rousing hard rocker with a thumping beat and an instant guitar riff, and a melodic vocal driven chorus that isn’t huge, but is immediately stored in the memory bank for endless repeating in your head later. And Lynch gets to display the best of his guitar work during a decent length solo.

Like A Dying Rose – An even better chorus on this one. The beat isn’t as intense or as fast as The Wish, but the chorus is huge and delivers a sound mix of everything that made Dokken and Stryper Platinum sellers. A big big vocal!

Love Stays – A slow, groove orientated ballad with a direct, impactful chorus and some classy guitar playing throughout.

Time Will Tell – Less intense than the other tracks, but more uptempo, adding good variety to the 4 tracks previewed. Another strong, harmony filled chorus and some choppy riffing.

A 90-second preview of another track Divine can be heard here: http://www.chirb.it/eKcwes

And you can hear just how awesome the track Time Will Tell sounds right here: http://audio.chirbit.com/michaelhsweet_1406294226.mp3

Stay tuned for more preview samples and updates on SWEET/LYNCH.

There's been a number of recent high profile releases from Frontiers Records of late, but there's plenty more to come. Three such releases include new albums from Trixter, Allen/Lande and the partnership between Michael Sweet and George Lynch.
Recent info from the label on these projects is as follows:

Trixter - "Back in 2012, we released the first new studio album of original material from Trixter in 20 years! Happy to announce that the wait for the next album will be a lot shorter as the band has just inked a new deal with us and we'll be putting out their new studio album in 2015!"

Allen/Lande - "Russell Allen (Symphony X, Adrenaline Mob) and Jorn Lande (MasterPlan) have gotten together and recorded another classic metal album under the Allen-Lande moniker! The new album, The Great Divide was recorded under the direction of Timo Tolkki (Timo Tolkki's Avalon, Stratovarius), who also contributed to the songwriting process. The album will be released this October, but in the meantime, here is a sneak peek at the album cover!"

Sweet / Lynch - "In a recent interview, Michael Sweet of Stryper revealed the possible name of his new project with renowned guitarist George Lynch (George Lynch Fan Page, Dokken, Lynch Mob (Official), KXM) is "Sweet Lynch". The album also features bassist James LoMenzo (Megadeth, Black Label Society, White Lion) and drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake/David Coverdale, Foreigner, Billy Idol)!
We've heard the album, which will be released in early 2015, and let's just say you guys will be absolutely, 110% BLOWN AWAY! Michael and George have outdone themselves! First taste of music from the album is currently scheduled to appear in September and you will be able to hear how awesome it is yourselves then!"
