EUROPE Tour The Earth Hits Australia May 2018!

Sweden’s legendary hard rock band EUROPE, best known for their worldwide 1986 Smash Hit The Final Countdown, have announced a run of five Australian dates in May 2018.

This will be the first time the band has toured Australia in their 35 year career!

The band recently entered the famed Abbey Road Studio’s in London to record their 11th Studio album entitled Walk The Earth, with grammy award winning producer Dave Cobb.
An album retaining the classic Europe melodies while pushing the boundaries of experimentation - recorded with equipment used by The Beatles and Pink Floyd at Abbey Road,
Walk The Earth was released worldwide on October 20, 2017

Featuring the classic lineup of Joey Tempest (Lead Vocals), John Norum (Guitar), Mic Michaeli (Keyboards), John Leven (Bass Guitar) and Ian Haugland (Drums),
Europe have achieved total worldwide sales in excess of 25 million, with the 1986 mega-hit The Final Countdown reaching No1 in 25 countries.
The band’s live set will feature all their hits together with fan’s favourites from their studio albums.

On touring Australia Joey Tempest adds “We are so excited to be touring Australia for the first time! It’s something we always wanted to do, but we just couldn’t make the schedules work before. But now its going to happen and we can finally hook up with our friends down under!

Originally formed in 1979 in a small suburb on the outskirts of Stockholm, heavily influenced by British rock giants such as Thin Lizzy, UFO, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, the band began to formulate their own sound.
After winning a rock band competition in 1982, where first prize was a recording contract and with a name change to Europe, the world was soon at their feet.  After the release of their first album, the self titled Europe in 1983, the band signed with Sony Epic Records, New York and in 1984 their second album Wings Of Tomorrow set the path for future worldwide success. With their aforementioned third release, The Final Countdown, the band had arrived.
That album spent 70 weeks in the US Billboard top 100 and produced four top 40 singles. With continued touring and sell out concerts all over the world the band released two more albums, 1988’s Out Of This World and 1991’s Prisoners In Paradise, but after 10 years of solid recording and touring and the changing music scene that put “Classic Hard Rock” on the back burner the band decided to take a break.

After enjoying the 90's releasing solo albums and touring in other constellations, in 2004 the band met up again after realising their journey was no where near complete.
The original line up reformed and released album number six Start From The Dark the same year. The band retained the old fans and at the same time regaining new ones. The coming years saw constant touring with headline festival appearances together with vast critical acclaim for their new album releases - Secret Society in 2006, Last Look At Eden in 2009 and Bag Of Bones in 2012.

2015 saw the release of War Of Kings which was later awarded a prestigious Classic Rock Award in the UK. This record put the band back at the top of their game.
The album’s success saw the band tour the USA twice, the first time the band had been there in 10 years, together with other territories, some brand new and some back for the first time since the 80’s.

2016 saw the 30th Anniversary of The Final Countdown and to celebrate the band played a series of special SOLD OUT concerts around Europe where they played the album in it’s entirety for the first time ever,
with the London Roundhouse concert being filmed and recorded for the DVD / Audio CD release, which hit the shops in July.

For The First Time In 40 Years…Performing A Full Concert Of Classic Deep Purple Live!

Glenn Hughes, the Voice Of Rock, played his last concert with Deep Purple on March 15, 1976, at Liverpool's Empire Theatre.
On that night, the UK bassist and vocalist walked away from one of history's truly game-changing rock phenomena and never looked back — until now.

This September, Australia will witness one of the finest hard rock singer/musicians of his generation fronting a mighty handpicked band live in concert,
as he revisits some of Deep Purple's all-time greatest songs for the first time in more than 40 years, with epic stadium rock production.

"Most Purple fans rank Burn and Stormbringer among the greatest albums the band ever made, in any incarnation," Glenn says.
"Over that Mk III period, we were also performing Mk II classics like Smoke On The Water and Highway Star every night on massive world tours.

'My lasting memories with Deep Purple in Australia, was of course the Sunbury Music Festival in '75. After so much sunshine, came the rain – a little prophetic with us performing Stormbringer.
My God, the mud! What mayhem, but the crowds seemed to have a great time, we sure did.'

'I'm incredibly excited to get out there and play tracks like BurnMistreatedStormbringer and Getting Tighter, as well as some of those older songs that helped define the genre.
With this band, I can assure you of a concert that'll blow your mind."

Glenn was inducted into the Rock'N Roll Hall of Fame last year along with his other Deep Purple bandmates.

With one of the heaviest repertoires known to rock, and sound and lighting production values befitting the legend,
Glenn Hughes' Classic Deep Purple shows are destined to write a new page in rock history – GET READY!

THE BAND
JEFF KOLLMAN - Guitar
The hallowed name of guitar god Jeff Kollman has graced too many greatest player polls to count these last 30 years.
The Ohio punk turned jazz-prog virtuoso has run rings around the world since his '90s metal band Edwin Dare gave way to prog heroes Cosmosquad and a gun-slinging resume that spans
Sebastian Bach to Alan Parsons; Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatballs to UFO spin-off Mogg/Way. A classic guitarist's guitarists, Jeff takes high praise from the likes of Steve Lukather and John Payne in his estimable stride.
On stage and record, he's been a recurring foil for Glenn Hughes since the Songs In the Key of Rock LP of 2003.

LACHY DOLEY - Keys
Some call him the Jimi Hendrix of the Hammond organ. Glenn Hughes calls him "the greatest living keyboard player in the world.'
Australian soul monster Lachy Doley is a killer showman too, pumping and pounding the most astonishing sounds from the classic B3 Hammond and his uber-rare Hohner D6 Whammy Clavinet.
Lachy's version of Bill Withers' Use Me has clocked millions of YouTube hits and his latest album, Lovelight, has torched blues charts from Australia to the UK. Sideman to Powderfinger, Steve Vai, Jimmy Barnes and Joe Bonamassa, the world-touring keys prodigy cemented his place in Glenn's band during sessions in Copenhagen for the Resonate LP.

PONTUS ENGBORG - Drums
Hard-hitting funk-rock drummer Pontus Engborg barrelled out of Sweden to hit the LA session scene barely out of his teens in 2000.
A fast and furious apprenticeship from the Viper Room to the Whiskey and the Knitting Factory would lead to stints with Joe Lynn Turner, Graham Bonnet, Toto's Bobby Kimball and Journey's Steve Augeri.
Back in Sweden, he's been the man behind the supremely versatile Confusion since 2007. It was there that he came to the attention of Glenn Hughes in 2010, and made his debut behind the Voice of Rock in Serbia that July, sans rehearsal or soundcheck, in front of 21,000 people. Seven years later, it's fair to say he passed the audition.

From Tony - get well sir!

"To my friends in Asia and Australia, it is with great disappointment and regret that I must announce the postponement of my tours in Asia and Australia.

Last week I was taken to the hospital with severe stomach pains. Following blood work, multiple MRI scans and various procedures, medical doctors discovered a large mass in my intestine, and it seems likely that we are dealing with cancer. My doctors have advised me that this will need to be dealt with immediately, and I am scheduled for surgery this week. Recovery from this surgery will take a month – right when I was scheduled to tour the Australasian region.

Providing all goes well, it is our understanding I should be well enough to perform on the coming European tour.

For Australia and Asia, we are working on rescheduling the shows. We will advise you as soon as possible when the new dates are booked.

In Australia, refunds may be obtained via thumpmusic.com.au.

In Asia, refunds can be obtained through the ticket purchase outlet.

I want to thank Jellybeard Music & Management (our booking agent in Asia) and Thump Music (our booking agent in Australia) for being so supportive in light of this news. We apologize for any inconvenience these tour postponements have caused, but I’m determined to make these dates up, and rock your city soon!

Wishing you all the best,

Tony."

There is no word yet on just who might accompany Kiss or if the Snake deal can be resurrected.

YNGWIE MALMSTEEN Announces 2015 Australian Tour

The Very Best from The King of Shred Live on Stage

Yngwie J. Malmsteen has been blowing minds across the globe with his incredible guitar skills and showmanship for over 35 years and in February 2015, Yngwie and his band will be returning to Australia and New Zealand for the first time in a decade to strike awe into the legions of guitar fans.

The Swedish born, but now US based, guitar legend is venerated as one of the founders of the art of guitar shredding. His neo-classical style and the sheer speed of his playing made him the most notable musician in the genre, and he has influenced a new era of music and guitarists alike.

But Yngwie is not known purely for the speed with which his fingers fly up and down the guitar neck. Yes, Malmsteen's playing is fast, but there's a crystal clarity to each of his notes that few can imitate. From his ground breaking early work with Steeler and Alcatraz, through his time alongside Joe Satriani and Steve Vai as a member of G3, to his more recent forays leading the Guitar Gods there are few that can compare to Yngwie J. Malmsteen.

Over more than 25 astounding albums the Grammy nominated Malmsteen has unleashed countless fretboard blistering solos, with both Fender and Marshall honouring him with his own model guitar and amplifier.

Don't miss your chance to see the Master of the Stratocaster live in person, and for those extra dedicated fans there are VIP tickets available granting access to an exclusive Q&A session, and for a few very lucky fans the extremely rare opportunity to meet Yngwie J. Malmsteen in person.

'Far from just being a high-speed and volume artist, his deep knowledge of music theory differentiates him from other shredders.' - High Octane Music News

DREAM THEATER ANNOUNCE ‘AN EVENING WITH DREAM THEATER’ AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2014

Tombowler and Metropolis Touring Present:

ANNOUNCE ‘AN EVENING WITH DREAM THEATER’ AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2014

If there is one name that is synonymous with modern Post Progressive Metal, it would undeniably be Dream Theater.

The supreme lords of the genre own their style, best described as mixing the progressive tendencies of bands such as Pink Floyd, Rush and Yes with the metal edge of Metallica and Iron Maiden. With a career spanning close to 30 years, Dream Theater have recorded over 10 million album sales around the world to a fanatical diehard fanbase.
It has been 5 years since Dream Theater’s last visit in 2009 and Australian fans have been chomping at the bit for a return tour from the mesmerising kings of post prog metal.

Metropolis Touring and Tombowler are therefore thrilled to announce Dream Theater will be finally returning to Australia for two very special, exclusive and intimate performances in Sydney and Melbourne this October!

Expressive, extraordinary and genre-defining, Dream Theater’s music is as timeless as their dozen-album strong discography would suggest, while their latest album, the self-titled Dream Theater sees the band ever advancing toward new horizons.  This latest record is the first featuring the full integration into the band of new drummer Mike Mangini, making their current lineup something to behold.

The mountain of awards and accolades from publications such as Guitar World, Revolver, Metal Hammer, Rolling Stone, Spin, Classic Rock as well as Grammy nominations rightly bestowed upon the band over the course of their storied career shouldn’t overshadow the most important thing Dream Theater has always offered: engaging, deeply resonant and undeniably catchy songs.

Pull Me Under, Caught In A Web, Forsaken, Lie, Take The Time, On The Backs Of Angels, Trial Of Tears, As I Am, Burning My Soul and The Enemy Inside are but just a few songs that have left fans in awe as they witness Dream Theater’s fingers fly; stirring up their own weather system of atmospheric and hauntingly hypnotic prog prowess.
Flawless as their albums are, it is the live setting where Dream Theater truly shine - their music comes alive, showcasing a gargantuan sound (and having John Petrucci’s wall of guitar blasting you in the face is something that has to be experienced to be believed!)

“Whenever a band of the magnitude of Dream Theater comes to town, the excitement is palpable. Tonight was no different, and the Palais was packed with fans itching to share in an experience that only takes place once every few years”FasterLouder

Dream Theater’s proficiency and technical wizardry is at full flight with the near three hour ‘An Evening With Dream Theatre’ performance loaded with nothing but the best from Dream Theater! The tour has been nominated for a ‘best live event’ award at this year’s Progressive Music Awards, demonstrating it is certainly one of the finest Prog shows currently touring the world.  Ensure you are one of the lucky ones along for the ride with Dream Theater on their two exclusive Australian performances in October!

Rick Springfield Australian Tour Cancelled

Friday, August 8, 2014
Categories:
Tour News
UPDATE: Rick Springfield kindly replied to my email stating that the tour WILL be rescueduled, they are working on that right now.

Lennard Promotions regrettably announces today the cancellation of the Rick Springfield October 2014 Australian tour.

On advice from Rick Springfield’s management, Rick has secured a co-starring role in the movie “Ricki And The Flash” alongside Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline.

Production begins in New York in mid September with Oscar winning director Jonathan Demme (“The Silence Of The Lambs”). The movie’s script was written by another Oscar winner, Diablo Cody (“Juno”). Meryl Streep has received 18 Academy Awards nominations and three awards. She has also won two Australian Film Institute awards.

“Sorry to all my Aussie fans,” writes Springfield. “ I was so looking forward to playing for you for the first time in 30 years. I promise to make it up to you next year. In the meantime, this movie is a great opportunity. It's not every day that Meryl Streep and Jonathan Demme come calling.”

Fans should keep an eye out for the possibility of a 2015 tour being announced in due course.

All tickets will be refunded in full and ticket holders should go to their place of purchase for the refund.

Lennard Promotions will be announcing the winner tonight for the Rick Springfield Competition and we will be awarding the winner with an amazing prize! Details of the prize are being finalised and the full prize will be published on the Lennard Promotions Facebook page within the next several days.
