Rock Legends Enter the Studio to Record First New Album in Over a Decade
New Album Coming this Year via Golden Robot Records
Rock legends KING’S X are thrilled to announce that they are entering the studio to record their highly-anticipated new album - the first to be releeased in over a decade - scheduled to drop this year via Austrralia’s leading international independent record label, Golden Robot Records. The label announced their global signing of KING’S X in December.

Today, KING’S X enters Blacksound Studio in Pasadena, California with renowned producer Michael Parnin - recognized for his work withh a varied range of artists, from Rage Against the Machine and Missy Elliott, to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Barbara Streisand.

Commenting on how it feels to be returning to the studio after 10 years, dUg Pinnick says, “Good question! I haven’t thought about it much, been super busy. But got a ton of tunes to submit. I never know what to expect. I’m always surprised when it’s done and can see it as a whole picture. And we’re making a record after how long?! I’ve been waiting for this to happen for a very long time, and I’m totally looking forward to it.”

Jerry Gaskill adds, “It’s been a while since we’ve made a record together. I go back and forth between excitement and fear. But when it gets right down to it, I think excitement wins. I look forward to sharing all of our ideas together and seeing what comes of it all. If nothing else, it will be the next KING’S X record.”

Ty Tabor says, “I'm excited to see where we are at these days. We're all bringing ideas in.”

Michael Parnin adds about recording the new album with KING’S X“A great story in the making… As a huge fan of the band from the beginning, I am unbelievably excited to work on the next long-awaited chapter. Some of my favorite and most artistically rewarding projects have been working with dUg over the past 10 years, namely “Strum Sum Up” and the fun Hendrix Tribute Album we did together- Likewise, I’m honored andd looking forward to working with Jerry and Ty who are each masters of their craft.”

Derek Shulman, Executive Chairman of Worldwide Expansion for Golden Robot Records adds, “I am delighted to finally be able to work with one of the most respected, creative rock bands of the past 30+ years. KING’S X is not only a superb rock band with an ardent fan base, but are also a ‘musician musicians’ band. Golden Robot Records is determined to finally help KING’S X receive the worldwide recognition it fully deserves.”

Since the release of their debut record, Out Of The Silent Planet, in 1988, KING’S X released over a dozen albums that have seen them rightfully earn their place on the rock royalty family tree. Fusing progressive metal, funk and soul grooves with vocal arrangements rooted in blues, gospel and even the British Invasion era influences, KING’S X created a style all their own which continues to be an inspiration for bands to this day.

Featuring vocalist and bassist Doug Pinnick, guitarist Ty Tabor and drummer Jerry Gaskill, KING’S X have never changed their line-up, a rarity in the music world and a testament to the band and musicians and friends.

Critically acclaimed from the start, KING’S X are musician’s musicians, name-dropped by everyone from Anthrax and Suicidal Tendencies to Iron Maiden and Blue Murder for their instrumental prowess. Pearl Jam's bassist Jeff Ament even declared that "KING'S X invented grunge”. They also enjoyed a long life via the David Letterman Show with their track, “We Were Born To Be Loved” (from 1990’s Faith Hope Love), also a favorite of the Paul Shaffer’s CBS Orchestra to play during commercial breaks.

In 1992, KING’S X signed to Atlantic Records/Megaforce Records, released three albums and toured with bands as diverse as ScorpionsType O Negative and Pearl Jam. In the early 2000’s, KING’S X released three studio albums and their first official live album via Metal Blade Records. In 2005, the band signed to German-based progressive music specialty label, InsideOut Music, and released Ogre Tones, an album described as a return to the bands classic sound. KING’S X forged ahead with new albums, DVD’s and tours up until 2012, when drummer Jerry Gaskill suffered a major heart attack. The band then quickly compiled an exclusive live release from their archives entitled, Burning Down Boston. The proceeds of which went directly to assisting Gaskill with his medical expenses. They rolled on for two more years until Jerry suffered another heart attack, which resulted in him having a double bypass operation and ultimately led to the band taking an indefinite hiatus.

This break didn’t last long, as they were back on the road in mid-2015, shortly afterward announcing they would begin work on a new studio album. This would be the band’s first since 2008’s XVKING’S X began meetings with Golden Robot Records management in Los Angeles in early 2017, eventually signing a global deal in October 2018.

Rat Pak Records Set To Release TY TABOR'S ‘Alien Beans’

King’s X guitarist Ty Tabor will release his all new solo effort “Alien Beans” January 12, 2018 via Rat Pak Records. “Alien Beans” is a double disc album that features 10 all new studio tracks and a “best of” compilation disc featuring 11 newly re-mixed and re-mastered tracks from Ty’s previous releases.

Regarding the new album, Ty comments, “I wanted to do a rock album and put some new, heavier stuff together. Along the way we also decided to remix some of the older stuff and make it a double album. Everything just fits together like it should. The whole concept behind the new album was to simply re-release a lot of my old catalog that was only available online and that most people didn't really know about. Basically, my back catalog has kind of been hidden among the fans for a long time, but I didn’t just want to re-release the same stuff. A lot of times when you release an album you wish you could go back later and fix a little thing, or mix this differently, or whatever. Well, I took a look at all the old songs in that light and I did do some tweaking. I remixed some of it and I remastered all of it. But we didn’t stop there. We ended up spending a year writing a whole new album too and decided to put them both out together. So, it’s not just the old compilation of stuff that people know about, but it's brand new songs too. Double album, old and new."

On the subject of song writing Ty states, "When it comes to what I write for solo material, I don’t really think about bands or anything like that. I just write music that makes me happy and I’ve ended up with an album I really love!"
With thought provoking lyrics, solid guitar riffs, and Ty’s signature sound, “Alien Beans” will surely resonate with all fans of rock music! Official release date for "Alien Beans" is January 12, 2018 and the album will be available in a variety of formats including vinyl, CD, cassette and autographed CD bundles which can be pre-ordered here: www.ratpakrecords.com/ty-tabor

FEATURING BILLY SHEEHAN, EARL SLICK , PHIL KEAGGY AND MORE!

Love and Scars is the long awaited sophomore release from legendary King’s X drummer Jerry Gaskill and is by far his best work to date! Featuring Billy Sheehan, Phil Keaggy, Earl Slick, DA Karkos, Andee Blacksugar and a host of other notable musicians, Love and Scars marks the completion of a long musical journey that started almost a decade ago.  Enduring a series of personal tragedies along the way, including two heart attacks, and losing all his possessions in Hurricane Sandy, Jerry remained steadfast and true in his belief that music heals all. “It’s been a long time coming and I’ve had some heavy obstacles to deal with, but the record is finally ready and I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished!” says Jerry.

Love and Scars also spotlights Jerry’s vocal and songwriting talents as he passionately pours his heart out into each and every song, putting to music all of his triumphs and tragedies of the last decade. The lyrical content of this album is simply about everyday life the way I see it and I hope that people will be able to relate to it on some kind of personal level”, says Jerry.  It quickly becomes evident within the first few seconds of this album that Jerry is highly influenced by his own band King’s X, as well as some of his earlier influences like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan and Grand Funk Railroad. “Drummers don’t always get the opportunity to showcase their full songwriting capabilities, but Jerry raises the bar and delivers a very solid offering with Love and Scars”, says Rat Pak Records owner Joe O’Brien.

Jerry Gaskill Love and Scars features Billy Sheehan, Phil Keaggy, Earl Slick, DA Karkos, Andee Blacksugar, John "JD" DeServio, Bob Burger, David Parks, Matt Gray, Matt Farley, John Farley, Topher Nolen, Joey Gaskill and Virus. King’s X To Rock Two Massachusetts Venues In June

Power rock trio King’s X returns to the road for two exclusive New England dates in June that are presented by JKB Entertainment Group. The critically respected band will perform at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA, on June 11 and the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA on June 12. Both venues are intimate and these will be the only dates in the six New England states. These will be the first performances by the band since drummer Jerry Gaskill suffered a second heart attack last fall.
Tickets for their show at the Regent Theatre can be purchased at www.regenttheatre.com, while tickets for the Narrows can be purchased at www.narrowscenter.org.

Few hard rock bands are as widely respected yet overlooked as King’s X. The band, which combines progressive rock and soul with vocal arrangements influenced by gospel, blues and British Invasion groups, still features original members Doug Pinnick (vocals/bass), Ty Tabor (guitar) and Jerry Gaskill (drums). They were ranked #83 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock and released over a dozen albums featuring the radio hits “Over My Head,” "It’s Love," "Black Flag" and "Dogman."

King’s X released their first studio album, “Out of the Silent Planet,” in 1988 and followed it up with the stellar “Gretchen Goes to Nebraska.” Their third album, “Faith, Hope, Love,” was the group's first release to crack the US Top 100, with the help of the successful single "It's Love". The band landed a gig opening for AC/DC in the U.S. and Europe for the first half of 1991. They also toured with Living Colour and were nearing the peak of their popularity.

King’s X signed with major label Atlantic Records for their next self-titled release. After parting ways with their longtime manager, the band enlisted veteran producer Brendan O’Brien, who had previously produced albums for Stone Temple Pilots and Pearl Jam. The ensuing release, “Dogman,” performed respectfully on the charts. This success resulted in the band opening shows for Pearl Jam and a show-stopping performance on the opening night of the mammoth Woodstock '94 festival

King’s X completed their contract with Atlantic Records with “Ear Candy” in 1996, before moving to Metal Blade Records where they released four studio albums and one live release. The band’s latest studio albums, “Ogre Tones” (2005) and “XV” (2008), were released on the InsideOut label. “XV” was their first album since “Ear Candy” to chart on the Billboard Top 200, ushering in a new wave of popularity for the band.
