Aerosmith Rocks 40th Anniversary - The Band Recall Successes And Excesses

Dallas, TX - June 8, 2016.  North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands celebrate the 40th anniversary of Aerosmith’s bold musical statement Rocks.

By the end of 1975 Aerosmith had sold three million copies of their breakthrough third album Toys In The Attic. Against all conventional wisdom their manager had convinced their record company to re-release a song from Aerosmith’s very first album called “Dream On” for the third time, even though it had failed twice before. This time “Dream On” goes to # 6 on the Billboard chart a full five years after it had been released. It was under this head of steam that Aerosmith’s next album Rocks was written and recorded for release in May 1976.

Aerosmith Rocks was not so much a simple album title as it was a definitive declaration of intent. Joe Perry reflects on the legacy of Aerosmith, America’s premiere hard rock band, with InTheStudio host Redbeard.

“The greatest strength of the band is our ability to play live. This (Rocks album) is basically a live record... It’s what you would have heard if you were standing in the middle of the room when we recorded.  - Joe Perry

It was during this mid-‘70s “make it and spend it” period of sex, drugs and rock and roll that Perry and lead singer Steven Tyler earned the notorious nickname “The Toxic Twins”, choices which soon proved to be very costly for all the members of Aerosmith. Guitarist Brad Whitford can never forget.

“When I saw the movie about Syd Vicious and when I saw the movie Spinal Tap, everybody sat in theaters laughing... And I watch those movies and said, ‘Part of that is my life, FOR REAL! ‘... I live with painful memories. I refuse to forget. A knot in my stomach and dreadful fear for someone... Some really bad times this band went through with drugs and alcohol, which almost took this band and a whole lot of other things away.”  - Brad Whitford

AEROSMITH ROCKS DONINGTON 2014
DUE OUT ON MULTIPLE FORMATS SEPTEMBER 4
VIA EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT

20-SONG COLLECTION CAPTURES THE LEGENDARY
ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAMERS
IN A CAREER-SPANNING PERFORMANCE AT
THE U.K.’S FAMED DONINGTON PARK

New York, NY (June 15, 2015)--As AEROSMITH gears up for their 2015 summer tour, a date has been announced for the release of Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014.  Due out September 4, the 20-song collection captures the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famers delivering a scorching career-spanning show at the famed Donington Park in Leicestershire, UK in June 2014.  Filmed in high definition, the critically acclaimed concert film--which premiered in February with a highly successful nationwide theatrical run--will be available on multiple formats: Blu-ray+2CD, DVD+2CD, DVD+3LP and digital formats for North America and DVD, Blu-ray, DVD+2CD, DVD+3LP and digital formats for ROW/Europe.  Details about a special pre-sale--with bonus items--of Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014 will be available in the coming weeks.

Headlining the massive Download Festival as part of the band’s “Let Rock Rule” tour, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton, and Brad Whitford unleashed supercharged versions of “Love In An Elevator,” “Janie’s Got A Gun,” “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing,” “Dude Looks Like A Lady,” “Walk This Way,” “Dream On,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Toys In The Attic,” “Mama Kin,” and many more.

In the Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014 liner notes, David Wild--Contributing Editor, Rolling Stone--describes the performance as having “the same kind of power and overwhelming passion that has always remained at the very heart of the live Aerosmith experience…So whether you were fortunate enough to be there among the crowds at Donington Park that gloriously atmospheric night in 2014--or more likely, if you are just lucky enough to catch up after the fact today--there is only one appropriate shared reaction to what you are seeing and hearing here: genuine rock & roll shock and awe.”

"It's always an absolute hoot that leaves me howling at the moon, performing at Donington we couldn't have had a better time on stage that night,” says Steven Tyler.  “I could feel the vibes of all the greats pulsing through the stage like AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica and so many more.”

“We have played Donington many times but this performance was one of our best,” recalls Joe Perry. “Thanks to our fans who were there who helped us make it a night to remember.  We are proud to have it be part of this theatrical series and it will give our fans who weren’t there around the world a chance to relive an ass kicking night of rock and roll.”

"We’re really proud and grateful to have been chosen to headline the Download festival at Donington for 2014,” Tom Hamilton adds. “It was an awesome experience and I think this film captures it.  Special thanks to the insane fans who stuck with us through mud and rain.”

“I'm grateful to have been able to play this show at Donington,” says Joey Kramer. “I thought the band played great, the audience was great. That night was a very special time.”

“Playing in Donington has always been a highlight of the tour for us,” adds Brad Whitford. “The fervor of the crowd there is a sight to behold and this night was no different.”

Fans can now bring home the live experience of Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014Breaking down the long-lasting appeal of the band and the contributions of each of its members, Wild writes in the liner notes:

●“Has any frontman ever stayed as deeply connected to the true spirit of rock & roll than Steven Tyler? The man’s muse does just not seem to contain an off-switch, and somehow he continues to have more energy onstage now than ever before…take a good look at Tyler on fire here…Tyler’s voice remains a tremendous force of nature…”

●“[Perry’s] delivered some of the most thrilling and iconic guitar solos in all of rock history…the man is not simply one of our all-time greatest guitarists…Perry has also more than earned his place in the Songwriters Hall of Fame along with Steven Tyler, further validation of their shared place as one of rock’s most respected songwriting teams ever.”

●“Among many other virtues, Aerosmith is arguably the most soulful band in rock history, and a lot of the credit for that goes to powerhouse yet funky drummer Joey Kramer…Kramer’s strong sense of feel provided Aerosmith with a solid foundation that keeps the band pumping…Kramer is the man credited with giving the band its eternally cool name.”

●“Rock solid bassist Tom Hamilton is much more than simply half of one of hard rock’s best and most versatile rhythm sections…Hamilton is not just a fine musician--he has also co-written a few of the most beloved Aerosmith classics…namely ‘Sweet Emotion’ and ‘Janie’s Got A Gun,’ as well as a number of other fan favorites.”

●“…[Brad Whitford is]…perhaps the group’s most effective secret musical weapon…known as Aerosmith’s band’s rhythm guitarist…Whitford has shown himself to be the absolute perfect guitar slinger to partner with Joe Perry--a more trained axe ace who has done so much to allow Aerosmith to consistently sound like a massive guitar army, and even better yet, one that always wins.”

AEROSMITH TO PERFORM AT PRO FOOTBALL HALL
OF FAME'S INAUGURAL CONCERT FOR LEGENDS

LEGENDARY BAND TO TAKE STAGE IN CANTON
ON EVE OF ENSHRINEMENT

CANTON, OHIO – The 2015 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival will feature more legends than ever before. AEROSMITH, Rock's greatest live act, will perform at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in the Pro Football Hall of Fame's first-ever Concert for Legends on Friday, August 7 at 8 p.m. ET. The concert will pay tribute to the legends of the Game on the eve of the Enshrinement for the Class of 2015.

"The Hall is thrilled to have legends of the music world honor the legends of the Game," shared Hall of Fame President David Baker. "AEROSMITH performing in the inaugural Concert for Legends will add even more excitement and energy to an Enshrinement Weekend that kicks off the NFL's 96th season since its birth in Canton, and the launch to Super Bowl 50."

AEROSMITH – Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton, and Brad Whitford – are a living piece of American music history, having sold over 150 million albums worldwide and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are the recipients of countless awards including four GRAMMYs, eight American Music Awards, six Billboard Awards and 12 MTV Video Music Awards, among many other honors. Their latest honors include the 2013 ASCAP Founders Award and induction, also in 2013, into the Songwriter Hall of Fame at the 44th Annual > SHOF ceremony. MUSIC FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION! (Columbia), the band's latest album, was released in late 2012. With scores of multi-platinum albums, AEROSMITH continues to inspire generations to get their wings, get a grip and just push play. It is no wonder why they are one of the most beloved bands of all time.

AEROSMITH was formed in Boston and the band members are avid New England Patriots fans.

Says Joe Perry: "Having grown up since the age of 2, born in Lawrence, Ma., 45 minutes from Foxborough Stadium and seen the franchise grow has been an amazing experience. As Aerosmith began traveling the world and became our own Hall of Famers, seeing the Patriots under the brilliant guidance of the Kraft family, we would hear the news of our hometown team winning again as we were doing a show in a far flung corner of the world and we would swell with pride and think, 'Ya those are our boys.' The fact that American Football is worldwide news, shows the intensity of the game and the impact of how you play it. On behalf of Aerosmith we would like to congratulate all of you Hall of Famers, owners, the commissioner of NFL, and of course our hometown team the Patriots. To perform this show for the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Hall of Famers is truly a great honor. You only get here by playing the game with all of your heart and soul. So we look forward to honoring all of you with a show that comes from the same place."

Tom Hamilton adds: "When we started out, jocks did not hang out with long haired musicians longer than it took to beat them up.  Finally we have a meeting of the minds based on mutual respect. It'll be a great honor to be there that night."

AEROSMITH has many Gold Jackets (living Hall of Famers) who are big fans of the band. Class of 2008 Gold Jacket and former Patriots linebacker Andre Tippett will be on hand for the Concert for Legends alongside an expected 100 or more Hall of Famers and countless other NFL legends.

"Spending my whole career in New England, I was very fortunate to have opportunity to get to know Steven, Joe, Brad, Tom and Joey," noted Tippett. "I can tell you that the New England Patriots locker room, in my day, was playing Aerosmith songs like 'Toys in the Attic,' 'Sweet Emotion,' 'Livin on the Edge' and 'Walk This Way.' And today, I can honestly tell you that those same songs fill the locker room of the Super Bowl champions."

Concert for Legends tickets go on sale Saturday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m. EDT and may purchased on ticketmaster.com, by calling 800-745-3000, or at ticketmaster® retail outlets. Tickets prices: $35, $69, $99, $150 and $225.

Aerosmith Pump, Second Jewel In Comeback Triple Crown, Turns 25, InTheStudio

Dallas, TX - September 9, 2014. North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind Historys Greatest Rock Bands pumps up the volume with the 25th anniversary of Aerosmiths 1989 mega selling album Pump.

A three dimensional hard rock masterpiece, Pump delivered Aerosmiths deepest well of songwriting, blistering performance chops, and the most innovative production of any hard rock album to date, courtesy of the late Bruce Fairbairn.

Its blazing energy and cinematic presentation combined with unforgettable songs make Pump one of Aerosmiths biggest sellers (over 7+ million), producing three Top 10 hits Janies Got A Gun, Love In An Elevator, What It Takes and delivering the band its first Grammy Award.

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler shares with InTheStudio host Redbeard how protective the band is with the creative process in the studio.

A guy came in while we were recording, rehearsing this album, doing pre-production and he mentions, Well you gotta have an Angel, you gotta have a Dude, and we threw him out... When you look at it like that it becomes a business thing, plus it can tend to scare you half to death.

STEVEN TYLER AND JOE PERRY'S POWERFUL NEW VERSION OF AEROSMITH'S CLASSIC 'DREAM ON,'
--AS HEARD ON ESPN'S BOSTON MARATHON SPECIAL--
AVAILABLE ON ITUNES JULY 31, 2014

The world heard a new version of the AEROSMITH classic 'Dream On' during the Spring 2014 premiere of ESPN's award-winning news magazine show, E:60. Recorded in Los Angeles in early April, the song features Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, who are joined by the Southern California Children's Chorus on this arrangement of 'Dream On (Boston Strong 2014).' The track will be released today as a single via iTunes. In a powerful moment at last night's AEROSMITH concert at The Forum, in Inglewood, CA the band surprised the audience by bringing the Southern California Children's Chorus on stage to perform this special rendition of 'Dream On (Boston Strong 2014).'

"The tragedy that took place during the Boston Marathon was unfathomable, but Boston is incredibly resilient and became even stronger. I am so honored to release this version of 'Dream On' and to be able to have had the Southern California Children's Chorus perform with us last night was a beautiful moment, a true gift from up above," says Steven Tyler.

'The heinous act that took place during the Boston Marathon which shook not only the city but the world and touched us all demanded a positive response,' Joe Perry said.  'Boston Strong was that response and gave an example of our city's inner strength. I would like to think that the strength of our performance on 'Dream On' last night with the Southern California Children's Chorus in LA at the Forum was another rallying point for the goodness in all of us.'

'Dream On (Boston Strong 2014)' debuted Tuesday, April 15 on 'E:60 Presents Dream On: Stories from Boston's Strongest,' a special hour dedicated to the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings.  The show presented five stories of survivors, narrated by celebrity voices of Boston At 2:49 PM, on April 15, 2013, as scores of spectators cheered on the Boston Marathon runners approaching the finish line, two hand-made bombs exploded.  In a split second, the lives of hundreds of people were forever changed. E:60 presented a special program remembering the lives lost and paying tribute to those who survived, their journeys of perseverance, courage, strength and love in the past twelve months.

In July, AEROSMITH embarked on this summer's definitive rock experience, the LET ROCK RULE tour across North America with Slash. The tour kicked off Thursday, July 10 at Nikon at Jones Beach Theatre in Wantagh, NY making stops in Boston, MA. (Xfinity Center), Los Angeles, CA (The Forum) and San Francisco, CA (Sleep Train Pavilion) among other cities, before wrapping Friday, September 12 in Sydney, NS, Canada (Open Hearth Park). These dates follow the band's overseas trek, which kicked off May 17 in Sofia, Bulgaria, and hit numerous countries including stops in Russia, France, and Germany before ending on June 28 in the U.K.
