WEST BOUND Gives Vocalist CHAS WEST New Star Project

West Bound featuring Chas West have announced their debut album, "Volume 1" will be released on February 22, 2019. Check out first single & video "Never Surrender":

West Bound/Chas West are a hard-hitting new rock band formed in the L.A. area by vocalist Chas West (Resurrection Kings, Bonham, Lynch Mob, etc.) and renowned guitarist/producer Roy Z (Bruce Dickinson, Halford, Tribe of Gypsies), with a line-up completed by Jimmy Burkard (guitar), Jason Cornwell (bass), and Dave “Chilli” Moreno (drums). Additionally, Stephen LeBlanc provides keyboards and Brian Tichy (ex-Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner) co-wrote and played drums on two songs for the album. West Bound offer up their take on the classic hard rock sound with soulful vocals, a touch of the blues, and killer melodies.

On where the inspiration of the band’s sound came from, Chas West says his “influences come from 70’s and 80’s classic hard rock, back when music was, in my opinion, real and passionate, from the heart & soul. Bands like Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Foreigner, Aerosmith, Van Halen, etc. were what we grew up on and we just went back to our youth when writing the songs for the album.”

If you remember the great bluesy hard rock explosion from the late ‘80s and early ‘90s with bands like Tesla, Cinderella, Badlands, Tora Tora, and Salty Dog and else enjoy the modern throwback hard rock like Rival Sons, Massive Wagons, Inglorious, and the like, then you are going to find West Bound right up your alley.

On the first single and video, Chas explains that “the song Never Surrender” is one that Roy Z and I came up with in the studio. It’s about going through struggles in life and never giving up on your dream despite them. People can relate to it in their own lives…it’s a theme we all know as human beings. Sometimes the tough times can help you define your true character.”

West Bound’s debut album, “Volume I” will be released on February 22, 2019 on Frontiers Music Srl. The band is currently in the midst of planning tour dates to support the album’s release. Expect more news on that in the new year.

Tango Down are a very consistent American rock band. This is their 5th album in 11 years, which is a pretty good recording rate. I’ve liked each album and the guys have always delivered on their brand of kick ass hard rock with splashes of more melodic AOR tunes in between the rockers.

On Bulletproof the band come out firing with one of their best rockers yet in Punching Bag. New vocalist Chas West is a favourite of mine – his voice is perfect for this material and he slides between the punchier rockers and the more melodic numbers with ease.
Which is exactly what he does with the second track Give Me A Reason, the harmony filled mid-tempo AOR track is a nice contrast from the opener.
A couple of mid-tempo rockers dominate next, the bass is a little loud in the mix on the track Carry On (same issue as with Maxx Explosion), but it’s a fine menacing tune.

When We Were Young is another mellower moment – fans of AOR with a kick will love this. It has shades of Adriangale and Def Leppard to it. I don’t have any credits, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see Jace Pawlack responsible for this tune.
I have to profess my love for the melody and chorus hook of Going Under, one of the album’s finest. But at the same time I can’t get past the drum rhythm. It doesn’t seem to fit the song at all. The verse beat seems out of step with the vocals and just doesn’t suit the melodies being carried by the vocals.

The album needed a kick ass rocker by now and Superstar delivers the goods. A nice dirty rocker.
The tempo dips again immediately after for the moody ballad Edge of Goodbye – which is quite superb. A killer chorus and some pristine vocals. A hit single in any other decade.
Back to a fast tempo on the not too heavy Anything Can Change which offers something different than the heavier rockers.
The album closes as it began, with a nice high energy, gritty rocker in Broken Heart.

Overall, the songwriting on this album is probably the best of any Tango Down album. The vocals are unquestionably the best and you can’t argue with the riffing either.
It’s a very good slice of American melodic hard rock featuring Scott Miller, one of the scene’s most underrated shredders.
The only issue I have with anything is perhaps the sequencing of songs and bits and pieces in the production. But overall, I highly recommend! Well done lads.

Tango Down is BACK, BIGGER, BADDER and BULLETPROOF!!!

News from Kivel Records: “Fronted by monster frontman and vocalist, Chas West (Lynch Mob, Resurrection Kings, Jason Bonham) on lead vocals. Tango Down delivers what we feel is their BEST offering to date.

We know it has been a little bit of a wait. But we really wanted to ensure this would really knock your socks off!! Both label and band owe it to you to deliver and not let you down.

Everyone from top to bottom wanted to make sure that this album was not only good, but it was THAT GOOD!!!

Scott and myself have always taken a personal challenge to make sure every TD album raises the bar and surpasses the previous one. IMHO I feel that we have accomplished that, not only in the past, but have done so yet again. As Bulletproof, imho, no doubt, IS the BEST Tango Down has ever delivered . I couldn't be happier or prouder of everyone involved with this release. We promise that it’s going to satisfy for sure.

Of course It goes without saying, MAD PROPS to Ty Sims for being Bob Rock to our Motley Crue.

Resurrection Kings is another supergroup project from the minds of Frontiers Records and the production/writing hand of Alessandro Del Vecchio. It’s a similar formula to the similarly named Revolution Saints.
Alessandro Del Vecchio continues to grow in stature as a producer. This album has a big hard rock sound that is harder edge and rawer than his Revolution Saints production. The material also lends itself more to American hard rock than the more melodic tones of Rev Saints.

Of course, part of that is down to the fired up delivery of vocalist Chas West (Bonham/Lynch Mob). Joining the star vocalist is an equally impressive lineup of names:  Craig Goldy (Dio/Giuffria) shredding and riffing in such fine company as the rhythm section of Sean McNabb and Vinny Appice.

The album starts strong, but I’m not sure it holds together as well towards the end. The material becomes a little too familiar and I’m not sure why, but Chad West’s vocals throughout seem to always be at maximum volume. There isn’t a lot of light and shade here and by the end of the album, I’ve definitely heard enough.

Distant Prayer is a heavy, somewhat bombastic opener with a surprisingly commercial chorus and hook. I love the pace of the track, really gets the album off to a flyer.
Livin' Out Loud is much slower and finds itself in that heavy, slow groove that metal often uses –and I hate. Thankfully there’s a strong chorus in play and the song fits quite well between two faster tracks. If it wasn’t for the memorable chorus, this track really would have killed momentum,
Wash Away is pure commercial hard rock. A free flowing vibe and a big chorus and melodic verse. Very catchy and although miles heavier than Giuffria, it has a certain melodic kinship with the AOR legends.
Who Do You Run To has a classic 80s guitar squeal to kick it off and is another pretty commercial track, with a mid-tempo beat. It’s not a ballad but not quite a rocker either. But solid with another pretty decent chorus.

Fallin' For You is a moody mid-tempo tune that definitely reminds me of David Reece’s solo material. Big, moody, loud, but catchy in a metal kinda way. Some impressive guitar work within the 6 minute track.
Never Say Goodbye is as it suggests – a big commercial rock ballad. West soars, the chorus goes with him and AOR fans will enjoy this. The guitars still manage to shred behind the vocals.
Path Of Love is the kind of track I don’t normally like – slow, bluesy, big groove. It has musical integrity and some fine chops on display, but these types of song rarely have a great chorus. This one ain’t bad but this is where the album starts to lose me.
Had Enough moves a little faster but still holds a little in reserve. An ok chorus and some nice soloing feature.

Don't Have To Fight No More moves faster still and has a stronger chorus too. A good track to position here in the album’s sequence. It grooves and it flows well.
Silent Wonder has again, a less memorable chorus, but a good pace and some melodies that grow over time. But there’s no escaping the fact that the album has started to sound a little samey.
What You Take is similar to the last several tracks, featuring a strong sound, ok chorus and plenty of guitar flurries. It’s a bit slow and doesn’t feature a strong chorus to end the album on.

Great performances and a strong production. Goldy is the star of the show here I think and West delivers an authorative vocal, even if it is always set to 10. Or 11 even…
The songs aren’t as strong as the Rev Saints record, but this is a different musical beast.
It definitely hits the target of 80s inspired American hard rock, but perhaps could have been even better.

Tango Down is back, and Bulletproof!  Getting ready for a new chapter and new material = new album. The new road tested lineup features great Chas West (Bonham, Lnch Mob)(vocals), Scott Miller (guitars), Axel Gessner (bass) and Keith Michaels (drums).

Some of new material was premiered at Rock N Skull this past October, all to rave reviews from all in attendance. Thank You Pekin Illinois, you humbled us all.

After long months of pre-production and getting the songs just right, the Rock N Skull appearance was the final "test" of the new material.  With the positive feedback, one thing was left to do -enter the studio.

We couldn't be happier with the end results of everyone's hard work.  The band is in final stages of recording, then the mixing process will begin soon after.  Mixing will be in the capable hands and ears of Ty Sims (Bombay Black and House of Lords "Indestructible".)

We are looking at a early April release, and we promise that this WILL be the best TANGO DOWN release to date

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of the highly anticipated self-titled debut album from RESURRECTION KINGS on January 29.

Today the band releases the first video from the new project for the song “Who Did You Run To”. The video can be viewed below:

RESURRECTION KINGS is a new band centered around the talents of former DIO and GIUFFRIA guitar player, Craig Goldy. Everything starts from a set of demos he recorded with singer Chas West, a guy with an unbelievable set of pipes, who has worked with such bands as the JASON BONHAM BAND, FOREIGNER, LYNCH MOB, TRIBE OF GYPSIES, and 3 LEGGED DOGG.

It all started five years ago when Craig Goldy asked me to get together to write,” says Chas. Out of those demo sessions, the song “Livin’ Out Loud” in particular strongly impressed Frontiers' President, Serafino Perugino who asked Craig to build up a project/band around that musical concept. He also suggested Sean McNabb for bass (LYNCH MOB, DOKKEN, QUIET RIOT), while Craig later brought in former DIO bandmate Vinny Appice on drums.

“Serafino wanted to make an album with famous musicians from the 80’s and I was flabbergasted when he asked me to participate” says Craig Goldy. “We’ve all know each other for a long time and it was a pleasure to work with everyone – my God with Chas, Sean and Vinny that’s a killer line-up!”

Frontiers in-house writer and producer Alessandro Del Vecchio (Revolution Saints, Hardline, Rated X) offered his services to the band and wrote (or co-wrote with Goldy) a few tracks to round up the material that was available. “He is a great songwriter, producer, musician and singer” says Goldy, “some of the demo versions already had vocals and everything else. So all we did was learn the songs and did them our way. When Sean and Vinny got hold of these songs they really came alive and gave me automatic inspiration to write and perform on top of what was already written”.

The resulting album is an impressive example of Classic Hard rock with a contemporary production and edge. Think Whitesnake “1987” mixed with DIO’s “Dream Evil”, with a touch of classic Zeppelin and Rainbow and you will not be far from the end result. An extremely strong record where the musicians are able to stretch their wings and please their numerous fans!

Tracklisting includes: Distant Prayer; Livin' Out Loud; Wash Away; Who Did You Run To; Fallin' For You; Never Say Goodbye; Path Of Love; Had Enough; Don't Have To Fight No More; Silent Wonder; What You Take.

TANGO DOWN Welcomes Vocalist CHAS WEST

Artist:
Thursday, December 31, 2015

TANGO DOWN have announced their new vocalist after the departure of David Reece. News just in from Kivel Records:

"We said we were going to lay low for a few months and enjoy the holidays. We all greatly appreciate the response that ‘Charming Devil’ continues to receive. We took time to sit back and soak everything in over the last year. All the good, and not so good, and in the end what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger (we think somebody famous said that).

Well, we’ve been quiet long enough. It’s time to kick the tires and get things back into gear. So, let’s start off with the obvious question that is on everyone’s mind. WHO is our new singer? Of course finding the right guy was going to prove to be a daunting task to say the least. However, we were up to the challenge, and we couldn’t be more pleased with our selection. So folks, we give you Chas West! Please welcome him to the TANGO DOWN fold!

As a front man, Chas first came to prominence as lead vocalist for BONHAM, featuring Jason Bonham on drums (son of the late, great John Bonham of LED ZEPPELIN), recording two major-label albums (Sony/MJJ) and touring the world extensively.

Chas has also held the lead vocal slot and toured with George Lynch’s LYNCH MOB. In between LYNCH MOB stints, Chas fronted the HOLLYWOOD ALLSTARZ (which included members of BLACK SABBATH, QUIET RIOT, DIO, RATT, & DOKKEN). Chas has also been given the ultimate nod of approval from one of the premier legends of Rock and Roll, Mr. Robert Plant (LED ZEPPELIN). After hearing Chas for the first time, Plant had this to say, "He sounds like me when I was his age". No better compliment or stronger validation could be asked for.

Chas West is a vocal wailer who has the power and grit of Chris Cornell, and the range and rock star attitude of Robert Plant. We could not be happier or more excited to welcome such an amazing talent into the band. Together we will not disappoint. Songs are currently being written, six of which have been approved and checked off that pesky To-Do List. One of these new songs may just be the best TANGO DOWN song ever!

TANGO DOWN, 2015 we are back and we are BIG, BAD & BULLETPROOF!

New album ‘Bulletproof’ coming Fall 2015 on Kivel Records

And now, a video message from Chas himself! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPofRWGy6VE
