DEE SNIDER Announces Spoken and Shouted! Australian Shows

Artist:

He is one of the most recognisable and notorious frontmen of all time and DEE SNIDER ascended to hard rock royalty in the early 1980s as the lead singer for New York-based heavy rockers, the multi-platinum sellers TWISTED SISTER. The charismatic and outspoken SNIDER in 1985, alongside John Denver and Frank Zappa, testified against censorship in regard to the Tipper Gore led PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center) -- SNIDER and company topped the charts in 1984 with the all-purpose us-against-the-world anthems We're Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock. DEE SNIDER and TWISTED SISTER changed the face of MTV and the rock and metal world forever. Apart from those two monster singles, TWISTED SISTER also released all time classic tracks like Stay Hungry, The Kids Are Back, You Can’t Stop Rock And Roll, The Price, Under The Blade and more! After the 1987 dissolution of the group, he embarked on a series of solo and group projects such as WIDOWMAKER and DESPERADO.

But there is more to SNIDER than just his musical prowess and presence. He has starred in several reality TV shows including The Celebrity Apprentice, Gone Country with John Rich, MTV’s Rock The Cradle with his son Jesse and Growing Up Twisted, an A&E series featuring the entire SNIDER family and their Long Island lifestyle. He was also a frequent host on MTV Networks and his own long running nationally syndicated radio show House Of Hair is heard on more than 200 stations in North America. His career as a voiceover artist has resulted in Dee being heard in many radio and TV commercials, documentaries and a year-long stint as the introductory voice on MSNBC. His autobiography Shut Up And Give Me The Mic was a huge success as was his Podcast Snider Comments. He also had a starring role on Broadway in the hit musical Rock Of Ages, there isn’t much Dee can’t do. SNIDER has also just recently unleashed his critically acclaimed new album ‘For The Love Of Metal’

'We Are The Ones' Says The Now Solo DEE SNIDER

Artist:
Friday, October 28, 2016
Categories:
News Feed

DEE SNIDER will release his new solo album, WE ARE THE ONES, which is due out October 28 on Red River Records (Distributed by BFD/RED).

WE ARE THE ONES crackles with modern energy, from the call-to-arms manifesto of “Rule the World,” to the anthemic bonding of “So What” (complete with, yes, a string section) to the intensely synth driven “Close to You,” to the thematically soaring “Superhero” (a song tailor-made for running over the end credits of the next Marvel or DC movie blockbuster if ever there was one). Another significant highlight of the album is a newly re-recorded acoustic version of “We’re Not Gonna Take It” which has also been tapped the official anthem for The Recording Academy’s advocacy efforts, including the “Fair Play Fair Pay” Act. Recently performed in Washington D.C. at the annual GRAMMYs On The Hill event, a video of the song recently premiered on Entertainment Weekly’s website and can now be viewed at Grammy.com/FairPlayFairPay.

Also featured on WE ARE THE ONES is an explosive cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Head Like A Hole.” “I always thought it was a great song, a powerful song,” DEE explains, “I can’t wait to do that one live. Like ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ is iconic, ‘Head Like a Hole’ is iconic for that era.”

With Twisted Sister effectively entering the rearview mirror, DEE now has his sights dead-set on his new musical direction. “You can’t expect others to embrace what you do if you don’t embrace it yourself,” he admits. “I have to believe it first before I can expect anybody else to believe it.  When you’re creating a new record, you want to make a statement, and you want to have music you can stand behind and feel strongly about. So it was a little unnerving when I started heading down this path. After Damon and I cut the first four tracks, I said, ‘Oh yeah, there is a place for me here.’ This is music I feel excited about, and I also look forward to playing it live.”

Earlier this summer, DEE took part in the unveiling of the new Rock & Roll Hall of Fame exhibit, “Louder Than Words: Rock, Power And Politics,” which will remain on display in Cleveland during the 2016 Republican National Convention. To commemorate the new Hall of Fame exhibit, DEE performed a new acoustic version of Twisted Sister’s legendary song, “We’re Not Gonna Take It.” This moving new version of DEE’s epic anthem is currently available on iTunes.

In April 2016, DEE was called to Capitol Hill for the second time—the first at the infamous 1985 Senate hearing instigated by Tipper Gore and the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC)--to speak on behalf of The Recording Academy’s "Fair Play Fair Pay” initiative.  On September 18, DEE will be presenting his new music at Riot Fest at Douglas Park in Chicago, IL.

For the first time ever, superstar magician Criss Angel is joining forces with DEE to release a music video featuring the new acoustic version of “We’re Not Gonna Take It.” Directed by Angel, the video aims to raise awareness of pediatric cancer by promoting HELP, a one-night-only, star-studded event which took place on Monday, September 12 at Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to support pediatric cancer research and treatment worldwide. The video sends a powerful message to viewers as DEE belts out the iconic lyrics, while the mother of a young girl—who is a cancer survivor—allows her head to be shaved in solidarity with her daughter and in support of the fight all of these children must endure. The video also features heart-wrenching footage of Criss Angel’s son, Johnny Crisstopher, going through treatments after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in 2015.

DEE is unapologetically energized about where he’s going as an artist. “Music inspires that genuine enthusiasm.  I’m not anti the past — I’m just not one of those guys sitting there singing about the glory days.  To me, these are the glory days, and the days to come are the glory days.  And this new record is the part of my next glory days.”

Here’s the complete track listing of WE ARE THE ONES:
  1. We Are The Ones
  2. Over Again
  3. Close To You
  4. Rule The World
  5. We’re Not Gonna Take It
  6. Crazy For Nothing
  7. Believe
  8. Head Like A Hole
  9. Superhero
  10. So What

Producer Tom Werman joins Mitch in episode 169 of One On One With Mitch Lafon for an 'encore performance'.

Producer Tom Werman returns! In our second interview with Tom, we covered many things including L.A.Guns, Dokken, Poison, Ted Nugent, Theatre Of Pain (Motley Crue), the Motley song that was inspired by the James Bond theme, Jeff Scott Soto, Foo Fighters, Cheap Trick, his Stonover Farm Bed & Breakfast and more.

Quotes from the interview:

On Dokken: "George and Don were not the best of friends. In fact, it just appeared that it was Don against everyone else, but he was the writer. He went for the more romantic song and the other guys wanted to rock."

"I did not get along with George Lynch. We had a very divisive engineer. He set us against against one another in very very devious ways. He was a real bad guy." Motley Crue: "We had to do Theatre Of Pain quickly."

Poison: "Rikki Rockett is the only musician that has ever turned to me and said, 'I understand that I'm not a very good drummer or I'm not the greatest drummer in the world, but I try.' And he did. He just stayed at it, at it and at it. He had the greatest work attitude."

Working with Poison: "We recorded digitally - I knew there'd be a huge amount of punching in and fixing this and fixing that."

Producer Tom Werman joins Mitch in episode 166 of One On One With Mitch Lafon. Tom discusses how he became a producer, offers his thoughts about ghost musicians, Nikki Sixx, Dee Snider and Rick Nielsen. He also looks back on classic albums by Stryper, Mötley Crüe, Glass Tiger, Cheap Trick, Love/Hate, Twisted Sister and more.

Quotes from the interview:

Stryper: "They were not equipped to compete in that hard rock arena because they had a mission. I loved the guys. We had a great time. They're wonderful people; really good people all of them. I don't want to take anything away from them, but I do think that they had to work a little harder because it wasn't just 'let's rock'."

Dee Snider: "I have never come across anyone who approaches the hypocrisy of Dee Snider. He was Mr. X until we finished the album than he was Mr Y."

Mötley Crüe: "Vince and Nikki (in the beginning) were not that accomplished at their craft. Tommy and Mick - I thought were amazing."

Dokken: "George Lynch was pure genius. He's probably the best lead guitarist I've ever worked with."

DEE SNIDER Releases New Song, 'To Hell And Back' Online

Artist:
Release Year:
2015
Categories:

EXCLUSIVELY VIA OFFICIAL WEBSITE

TOUR OF EUROPE, SOUTH AMERICA AND U.S. SET FOR THIS SUMMER

July 7, 2015 -- In March of this year, DEE SNIDER and his Twisted Sister bandmates mourned the loss of their drummer, AJ Pero, and announced that the 2016 touring season (the 40th anniversary of the band's formation) will be the end of the road for the world-dominating force of nature that is Twisted Sister.  While perhaps he is best known as the lead singer of the '80s sensation, there is so much more to DEE SNIDER.

DEE SNIDER is continuing to make music on his own, releasing 'To Hell and Back' exclusively via his website, www.deesnider.com, as a free download.  He co-wrote the song with Silvertide founder/guitarist Nick Perri. This track will be included in a new album that DEE is currently working on with Grammy', Emmy' and Oscar' winning writer/producer Damon Ranger ('Life Of Pi').  The new project will also feature material from DEE's past including his worldwide hits with Twisted Sister.

Later this summer, DEE and his band--Nick Perri (lead guitars), Dan McCafferty (rhythm/lead guitar), Nicolai Nifoussi (bass), Joe Franco (drums)'will launch a solo tour which will take him to Europe and South America for festival shows including Rock In Rio in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the Rock Of Ages Festival in Baliingen, Germany.  He'll also be performing a number of headlining shows in the U.S. starting with the Legendary Buffalo Chip Campground at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, SD on August 3.

DEE SNIDER has starred in several reality TV shows including appearances in three seasons of Celebrity Apprentice, Gone Country with John Rich, MTV's Rock The Cradle with his son Jesse Blaze, Growing Up Twisted, an A&E series featuring the entire Snider family and their Long Island lifestyle, ABC's Celebrity Wife Swap, and Celebrity Holiday Homes. He has also been a frequent host on the MTV Networks and, with more than 20 years on the air in radio, his own long-running, nationally syndicated radio show House Of Hair can be heard on over 200 stations in North America and at Houseofhaironline.com.  DEE also recently launched a much-heralded podcast 'Snider Comments' on the PodcastOne network.  His career as a voiceover artist has resulted in DEE being heard in many radio and TV commercials, animated shows, documentaries and a yearlong stint as the voice on MSNBC.

Never setting limits, DEE wrote, produced and starred in Dee Snider's StrangeLand. This horror movie has become a cult classic, literally creating the torture film sub-genre. The sequel, StrangeLand: Disciple is currently in development. With the success of StrangeLand, DEE was tapped to host a weekly radio show on all things horror, Fangoria Radio, on Sirius XM.

In 2002, VH1 signed DEE to star as himself in their original movie production of Warning: Parental Advisory.  Co-starring Mariel Hemingway, Jason Priestley and Griffin Dunne, DEE re-created his role during the 1985 congressional record labelling hearings. Battling the Beltway wives, most notably Tipper Gore, DEE, along with Frank Zappa and John Denver, turned DC politics upside down, carrying the banner of his Twisted Sister legendary anthem 'We're Not Gonna Take It.'

His recent starring role on Broadway in the hit musical Rock Of Ages generated national interest and appearances on The Today Show, CNN's Joy Behar Show and a legendary spot on The Jimmy Fallon Show where DEE guested with The Roots and Jimmy on Twisted Sister's self-penned hit, 'I Wanna Rock.' The Rock Of Ages run inspired him to make a brand new record for Razor & Tie, DEE DOES BROADWAY, featuring some of the Great White Way's biggest songs, side by side with Broadway legends like Patti LuPone and Bebe Neuwirth, in his own indomitable style.  His self-penned memoirs, Shut Up and Give Me The Mic, were released in the summer of 2012 from Gallery Books/Simon & Schuster to critical acclaim, coinciding with Warner Pictures' release of the Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta Jones, Russell Brand film version of Rock Of Ages, which features two of Twisted Sister's biggest hits.

Since starring in Rock Of Ages and recording DEE DOES BROADWAY, DEE SNIDER's Broadway connection has continued to grow.  'Dee Snider's Rock 'n' Roll Christmas Tale' (lyrics, music and book by DEE SNIDER) completed a highly successful nine-week run throughout the 2014 holiday season at Broadway in Chicago, and is heading for Toronto this year.  DEE also produced the off-Broadway hit ensemble 'Puppet Shakespeare,' (five stars, New York Times) and the international award-winning short film 'Fool's Day.'

In 2014, DEE was the recipient of the prestigious Harry Chapin Memorial Humanitarian Award for his charitable work spanning several decades. Most notably, he spent twelve years as the national spokesman and Grand Marshal of the March of Dimes Bikers for Babies initiative (for whom he raised $325,000 with his Celebrity Apprentice win), established his annual Ride to Fight Hunger for Long Island Cares, and donated his Gold and Platinum album awards to Broadway Cares for auction.
