Halestorm - "Chemicals" [Official Audio]

"Our Song "Chemicals" was written in homage to those we’ve lost and all of us struggling with mental illness. In this song I dip into the personal insanity that goes on inside your head. Because sometimes you feel like you are drowning in the whisperings of your own mind, like you are the Only One at war with your impending darkness. But really, we are all in this together. We are all battling one day at a time. We, The fighters... We are the majority. So I made the chorus an anthem, an epiphany that we are all the same, and most everyone you meet has been touched by mental illness. Let’s lift each other up. Raise Your Horns!"

Music City Mayhem 'Female Rock Vocalist of the Year’ JASMINE CAIN Returns March 29 with “BE BRAVE”

Produced by Caleb Sherman (Rex Brown, The Lacs), “Be Brave” Appears on SEVEN (Cain’s 7th LP) Releasing May 10

Nashville Album Release Show, Star Wars Themed Cantina Party, May 4 at Little Harpeth Brewery

Coast to Coast Tour Includes Bike Weeks in Daytona Beach, Arizona, Myrtle Beach, and Sturgis

Nashville, TN: Music City Mayhem 'Female Rock Vocalist of the Year’ and bassist extraordinaire Jasmine Cain has announced the March 29 release of “Be Brave," the first single from her forthcoming album, SEVEN. With shimmering vocals and her trademark bassline, the melodic mid-tempo rocker recalls the best of Halestorm, Heart and Whitesnake. Inspired by her best friend, and lifetime co-writer, Paige Logan, Cain shaped the song with her friend’s infinite wisdom, "She has been my female inspiration for many of my transitions in life. I've seen her face almost everything life can throw at you, and each time she walked through the fire and came out of the ashes on the other side better than she was before. When I asked her how she does it, this is her only advice. Be brave."

Brave is the first taste of SEVEN, Cain's seventh album, and her first since 2016’s White Noise, a breakthrough album that featured Jeff LeBar of Cinderella and Michael Starr of Steel Panther. SEVEN is more than a number, it's a life path that she connects to on a deeply spiritual level, "The number seven is about harmony and allowing yourself to think outside the box. I needed a new direction and fresh ideas and so I created my own trinity of sound with the help of some key element players and together we pushed through the boundaries I had locked myself into a new dimension that is SEVEN."

Three years in the making, and due for release on May 10, Cain has delivered her magnum opus, packed with her most personal burdens, unpacked with emotional clarity and executed with a searing urgency. Anthems like “Let It Go” and “Ghost” showcase her incredible range as a vocalist, finding strength from scars while the razor sharps riffs of “Money,” Burnout” and “Real World” show that this power trio is an unstoppable force to be reckoned with.

Produced by Caleb Sherman, known for his work with The Lacs and Rex Brown of Pantera, the 10-track album deftly layers the edginess of Active Rock with the pop sensibilities of Adult Contemporary to create a comprehensive journey that stakes its claim as a towering achievement of classic rock and modern music. In addition to Sherman, who adds keys, synth, guitars, bass, and background vocals, Mills Logan was at the controls as recording and mixing engineer with contributions from songwriters Paige Logan, Monique Staffile (HER), and Kevin Bebout and all-star musicians including guitarists Jordan Roepke, and Kenny Olson (Kid Rock) and Accept drummer Christopher Williams.

In conjunction with the album release, Jasmine launched a Patreon to give her rabid “Cainiacs” exclusive access to subscriber-only videos, limited edition posters, behind-the-scenes photos and two bonus cuts not appearing on the album, the soul-baring, “Hurt” and a cover of “E.T.” by Katy Perry. Patrons will also have the opportunity to partake in VIP meetups.

Taking the show on the road is what she loves the most, logging 150 dates per year. 2019 will see her go coast-to-coast, from the beaches of South Carolina to the sands of San Diego including multi-date stints at bike weeks in Daytona Beach, Scottsdale, Myrtle Beach, Galveston, TX and Sturgis, SD. For her album release show in Nashville, she’s hosting a raucous celebration at Little Harpeth Brewery in East Bank. Dubbed “May The 4th Be With You,” her Star Wars themed Cantina Party will include a costume contest, burlesque, prop replicas, live lightsaber duel demonstrations, a Stormtrooper DJ and a full bore rock show. Also on hand will be 501st Legion (aka "Vader’s Fist"), an international fan-based organization dedicated to the construction and wearing of screen-accurate replicas of Imperial Stormtrooper armor, Sith Lords, Clone Troopers, bounty hunters, and other villains from the Star Wars universe. Gibson Guitars is donating guitars signed by Femi Taylor (Oola from Return of the Jedi) and the band for silent auction with proceeds (plus a portion of ticket sales) to benefit the Make A Wish Foundation. In addition to standard general admission tickets, a limited number of VIP passes will be offered that include a private viewing area and a special meet ’n' greet with Jasmine and Femi. Recognized as “Artist of the Year” at the 2017 Nashville Industry Music Awards (NIMA), Cain continues to generate excitement worldwide, playing 1500+ shows/festivals over the past decade, including gigs with Quiet Riot, Great White, Jackyl, Winger, Heart, Vixen, Skid Row, Bullet Boys, Lita Ford, 38 Special, Saving Abel, Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, Blackstone Cherry, Powerman 5000, Finger 11, Theory of a Deadman, My Darkest Days and Three Days Grace. Jacob Cade - "Icky Nikki" (Co-written by LZZY Hale & Joe Hottinger)

One of the most spirited rockers today is undoubtedly singer/guitarist Jacob Cade, who’s seemingly never-ending energy has landed him opening slots with the likes of Steel Panther, Bobaflex, Winger, and Dokken. And now, Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger are on board the Jacob Cade train, as they helped write what will be the follow-up single to Jacob’s Top-40 charting debut, "What’s Your Problem?!"

The new track, "Icky Nikki," was produced and mixed by Michael Wagener, known for his work with Metallica, Motley Crue, Megadeth, Alice Cooper and many more rock legends. Many stations have already added the song into rotation (including KBPI, KHTQ, WIIL, KFML, WHXR, KTED, KEDJ, KGRR, and KCGQ), with many others soon to follow. “Icky Nikki” can be heard via this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcDnojDdhYA

“Working with Lzzy was the most amazing and influential experience for me as a songwriter,” explains Jacob. “I can’t explain how much I learned in that one day of writing music with her and Joe Hottinger. The song is about a toxic girl that was more or less built out of mine and Lzzy’s imagination with a little help from some of my own experiences. I can’t thank Lzzy and Joe enough for being so cool and willing to work with me!”

Cade’s earlier single, “What’s Your Problem?!”, was a hit at rock radio, and was also produced by Michael Wagner, and was co-written with Skid Row bassist Rachel Bolan. Additionally, Cade has written material with former Winger guitarist, Paul Taylor, as well.

Lastly, there is a simple reason why Cade feels his music stands out from the rest of the pack. “I believe it is different with what is coming out lately, and that's what makes it special and appealing.” As evidenced with the insanely catchy “Icky Nikki,” the fast-rising rocker is quickly making a name for himself with admirers of high energy, melodic rock n’ roll.

Reviews

Some are going to call this the band’s best album because it’s so different to what came before. But those that have a strong affinity with the first two albums could really struggle with the direction of this one.
I’ve sat on this review for a while knowing that some time was needed for the updated direction to sink in. I’m glad I did, as I’ve found that while I really like every song on the album, I’m not coming back to it quite as often as I did with Strange Case Of.

There’s some truly groundbreaking moments on here, some inspired songwriting (full credit for all songs being written by the band) and a monster sound as per usual, but at the same time, maybe a bit of warmth from the first two albums isn’t as present here.
But, when the mood fits, there really isn’t anything else like this on the market and no one has the balls or the passion of Halestorm.
And Lzzy Hale is a genuine, bonafide, all-American rock n roll star. Her vocals on this album are simply incredible.

So the sound of this album varies almost from track to track as the guys (and gal) try and cram everything they’ve come up with in. That shows terrific talent and diversity in the songwriting and production departments (production by Jay Joyce of In Pursuit & Bedlam fame, recorded in Nashville).

There’s the high-tech modern rock of Scream and Sick Individual (with its big groovy chorus); and the balls to the wall rocker Mayhem, which I adore. Three great songs right here.
More traditional Halestorm can be found on the aggressive I Am The Fire; the rousing Amen; mood driven The Reckoning and Apocalyptic.

The guys take a shot at FM radio with some Pink inspired commercial tracks such as the beautifully sung ballad Dear Daughter and What Sober Couldn’t Say that features a stunning vocal and smooth chorus.
Then there’s the country influence of Nashville seeping through on several tracks which if de-rocked, could easily be covered by Nashville’s finest females - New Modern Love; the amazing ballad Bad Girl’s World; the metal-country Gonna Get Mine and the biker-rally ready I Like It Heavy.

What I also like it the transitions between tracks and the occasional ad-lib or segue way into the next track – it shows that a lot of time and thought has gone into sequencing and how the album should flow. The art of “album making” is not all lost!
As is the case with many releases, there’s two bonus tracks – the simple riff-n-groove-hard rocker Jump The Gun and the catchy commercial modern rocker Unapologetic (touching on the Pink influence again).

This is a monster record and I applaud all involved for their commitment to the art of making a full album and executing it well. The sound and style is a little more diverse and modern than the band’s first two releases, so I expect there to be some debate over this album’s merits.
While I think Strange Case Of was a more focused and direct record, there is no doubting that Into The Wild Life is a very accomplished piece of work with a ton of great new songs.
