TYKETTO PRESS RELEASE

As most of you know, Danny lost his mom a few days ago. We’ve had many conversations this week, and he’s in as good a place as one could be during such a sad time. This morning, I asked him if he would like to postpone the following announcement to respect her passing, but he quickly replied that his mom loved nothing more than seeing her son share his voice and music with the world, and to by all means announce such happy news. So, with his blessing, here goes……

TYKETTO DVD ANNOUNCEMENT

After many months of editing, re-editing, considering throwing my laptop out the window, giving up, giving in and giving it our all, it looks like Tyketto’s much anticipated “We’ve Got Tomorrow, We’ve Got Tonight” live CD/DVD is nearing completion.
We should soon be able to get it over to our ever-patient fans who attended the taping, and will also start pre-orders soon. Barring any last minute digital gremlins crashing the party, we’re hopeful for a mid-late January release.

For those who don’t know what the hell I’m talking about…. This past June, we headed off to the lovely town of Pontypridd, Wales with a 14 piece band to produce a very special concert and live video event. The goal was to mix things up with radically different versions of your favorite Tyke tunes that span our entire career. Both the band and fans in attendance agreed that our goals were met. It was a very emotional weekend, celebrating music, friendship and family, We can’t wait to share it with the world.

Check the Tyketto website for updates on the release date, as well as updates on our upcoming “Strength in Numbers” anniversary tour which kicks off in March. We have less than 30 tickets left for the March 9th show at The Rescue Rooms in Nottingham and less than 20 for the March 16th show at The Cluny in Newcastle, so you best get your tickets now before they sell out!

Bring on 2019!!! Looks like it’s going to be a very special year.

Not that much needed to be said here.
It's Tyketto - killer band, great live and in this case, celebrating an utterly classic album - Don't Come Easy.

Here they perform the album back to back; notably leaving Forever Young as the logical closing track.

So, classic band, classic album, solid performances...all that's needed from me is the tick of approval for sound quality. And I'm happy to give it. This one is nice and raw, no overdubs in sight. Naturally I wasn't serviced with the DVD portion (or the CD for that matter, just digital), so I can't comment on that.

But the audio stacks up just fine thank you very much.

The only point - it's not a long set. I would like ot see a double "Greatest Hits Live" release one day.

TYKETTO Release First Ever Live Record 'Live From Milan' Oct 13

Frontiers Music Srl, is pleased to announce the first live release by Tyketto, LIVE FROM MILAN 2017! The CD/ DVD, Blu-Ray, Vinyl, and MP3 (audio only) will be out on October 13, 2017!
Check out NOW a preview of the excellent show filmed at the Frontiers Rock Festival here:

Danny Vaughn says: "It's been 25 years in the making. From the beginning our goal was to always put on the best live show we could possibly do. This, more than anything else, is what has kept the band alive in the hearts and minds of the fans. And the quotes that our fans have kindly provided for us in the cd booklet bear this out. We are a no frills, no gimmicks, warts and all, balls out rock and roll band. No more, no less. And our audience are family to us. They are just as responsible for how good this concert is as we are. Everybody brought their best game. All that's left to do is to sit back and enjoy!"

The line-up comprised of founding members vocalist Danny Vaughn and drummer Michael Clayton Arbeeny along with guitar wizard Chris Green, bassist Chris Childs (THUNDER) and ex-TEN keyboardist Ged Rylands, TYKETTO co-headlined “Day 1” of FRF IV and blew the roof off with their performance of the classic “Don’t Come Easy” album from back to front (yes, back to front, not front to back)! Cameras were there to capture every riveting moment and now, with great pleasure, Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to release this special performance on CD/DVD and Blu-Ray! Michael Arbeeny says: “If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a thousand pictures. Tyketto- Live in Milan 2017 not only brings the songs of DON'T COME EASY to life, but also shows the passion and excitement the band takes onstage at every performance. LIVE IN MILAN is simply five brothers enjoying the hell out of what they do.... with a few thousand friends stopping by to join the party.

Tyketto’s debut album, “Don’t Come Easy” is considered a landmark release amongst melodic hard rock albums of the late ‘80s/early ‘90s. While the band has continuously put out quality recordings over the years, fans and critics alike hold the debut album in especially high regard. So, it was with great pleasure that after releasing the band’s most recent studio album, “Reach”, Frontiers invited the band to play Frontiers Rock Festival IV in Milan, IT to not only play tracks from more recent releases, but to play “Don’t Come Easy” in it’s entirety to an adoring audience!

Guitarist CHRIS GREEN Set To Unleash New EP ‘Unveil’

Artist:
Categories:
News Feed

Best known as the guitarist for metal veterans Tyketto and Rubicon Cross, Chris Green will be showcasing his six-string skills on an all-instrumental five-song EP, ‘Unveil,’ which will be issued on December 2nd (for which a teaser video can be viewed here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6RRFSGKJ9c). The release comes hot on the heels of Tyketto’s latest offering, ‘Reach,’ which was released via Frontier Records on October 14th.

“Unveil", the first single from the EP release will be made available on Friday, November 18th, 2016 and can be purchased here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/unveil-single/id1174379721

“I think a lot of people have forgotten what it is to be moved by a piece of music that uses no lyrics,” explains Green. “The listener gets to interpret the piece however they see fit. That was my goal. For me, to finally move freely within music with no boundaries was a complete luxury, and a challenge at the same time. What I've laid down on this album isn't just notes, it's laying every emotion I experienced during a turbulent time of my life without using a single word.”

The turbulent time that Green mentions occurred with the passing of his father, who was also one of his best friends and biggest supporters. “I still really miss our talks, but one that comes to mind and will always stay with me is essentially the reason I recorded these tracks in the first place. After an hour or so bitching about being in bands and why democracy within them seems to be not only a near impossible task but a process only matched by sitting in a dentist chair having teeth pulled, he simply said ‘Well, just record your own bloody album under your own name like I've always said to you. Then you are your own boss, can write what you want, and answer to nobody.’

As it turns out, his father’s passing also served as the inspiration for one of the EP’s standout tracks, “Undefeated.” “This is without doubt the most emotive piece I've ever written. My father was in my mind throughout the entire creation of this track. The intro to the song was something I came up with really soon after dad’s passing.”

For years now, Green has been gaining popularity amongst fans and peers alike for his melodic approach to technical lead guitar playing. His recognizable signature sound of Marshall tube amps and PRS guitars has earned him accolades across the globe. When asked about his playing style Chris says, “For me, guitar playing boils down to some very simple factors. Be melodic when it counts, flare your acrobatic abilities only when the time is right, stay in tune, and be a nice person. These things have opened more doors for me than any other advice I’ve ever received.”

With a multitude of worldwide dates behind him, including some of the most prestigious festivals known to rock fans, the future is looking extremely bright.

Confirmed ‘Unveil’ EP Track Listing:
“UNDEFEATED”
“UNVEIL”
“ONCE FORGOTTEN”
“REMEMBER”
“WELCOME FOR A SOLDIER”

Rock Candy Records Latest - SAMMY HAGAR, TYKETTO, KICK AXE, SALTY DOG

The following eight new Rock Candy titles are all available now from www.rockcandyrecords.com for a discounted price.

SURVIVOR 'EYE OF THE TIGER' CANDY322

STOP ANYONE ON the street and ask them to name one of their all time favourite rock tracks and there's a very good chance that 'Eye Of The Tiger' will top that poll. As one of the most ubiquitous tracks of all time, this song not only topped the singles chart in the USA but it also became synonymous with one of the biggest movies of the 1980s, namely 'Rocky III'; Sylvester Stallone personally requested the track and, by including it in the film, gave the song a thirty million dollar promo video!
Up to that point survivor had proved to be moderately successful melodic hard rock band but with the boost from 'Rocky III' the band was suddenly thrust into the spotlight, securing them the same sort of adulation afforded other hard rock heavy hitters such as Journey, Foreigner and Boston. It was a pedestal that served them well for the rest of the decade and beyond. Both the single and the album topped the US charts in the summer of 1982.
The album was produced by guitarist Frankie Sullivan and engineered by Mike Clink, a man who would later go on to produce Guns N' Roses. Although the title track is universally known, the album contains a brace of superbly written and arranged tracks that indicate the band's talent had reached new levels of creativity, even spawning another massive hit single with 'American Heartbeat', proving, if proof were needed, that Survivor could do no wrong.

SPECIAL DELUXE COLLECTOR'S EDITION, FULLY REMASTERED SOUND, BONUS TRACK, 16 PAGE FULL COLOUR BOOKLET, 4,000 WORD ESSAY ABOUT THE MAKING OF THE ALBUM, NEW INTERVIEWS AND ENHANCED ARTWORK

TRACK LISTING: 1. EYE OF THE TIGER 2. FEELS LIKE LOVE 3. HESITATION DANCE 4. THE ONE THAT REALLY MATTERS 5. I'M NOT THAT MAN ANYMORE 6. CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT 7. EVER SINCE THE WORLD EGAN 8. AMERICAN HEARTBEAT 9. SILVER GIRL. BONUS TRACK: 10. EYE OF THE TIGER (SPECIAL EXTENDED VERSION)

SAMMMY HAGAR 'ALL NIGHT LONG' CANDY 290

ONE OF THE great things for rock bands during the 1970s was that they had plenty of opportunity to play live, to hugely appreciative audiences. But not only did their studio recordings have to be great they also had to deliver live in concert, and this was an area that really separated the wheat from the chaff. If you were known as a great live act then your success was almost guaranteed
With this in mind, it's no surprise that Sammy Hagar's live performances had almost become legendary. After three studio albums he had carved out a rock solid audience eager to lap up his no nonsense live performances and 'All Night Long' is a fine testament to that fact. Surrounded by members of what was, in effect, the same band that Sammy had commenced his career with, namely Montrose, and the addition of super guitarist Gary Pihl, the album cemented his ability in stone.
Originally released in 1978, and taped at headlining shows in California whilst he was promoting  the 'Musical Chairs' release, the album captures Sammy in full flight. Remarkably, there are none of the usual overdubs or studio 'fixes' on this record whatsoever, just the band and a mobile studio capturing a moment in time that still sounds remarkably fresh to this very day. Of course, the ghost of Montrose is never that far away with electrifying renditions of 'Make It Last' and 'Bad Motor Scooter' underscoring a link that will always be present.

SPECIAL DELUXE COLLECTOR'S EDITION, FULLY REMASTERED SOUND, 26 PAGE FULL COLOUR BOOKLET, 4,000 WORD ESSAY ABOUT THE MAKING OF THE ALBUM, NEW INTERVIEWS AND ENHANCED ARTWORK WITH PREVIOUSLY UNSEEN PHOTOS.

TYKETTO 'DON'T COME EASY' CANDY295

THE EARLY 90'S presented a massive challenge to a number of melodic rock bands. The musical climate was being transformed by a rush of angry young men playing a stripped down form of rock, less influenced by style and bravado, and built mainly on angst and melancholy. For Tyketto this landscape meant that their arrival would be subjected to a chilly reception from a media obsessed with trends and fads.
The fact that Tyketto were out of step with the prevailing musical winds didn't mean to say that their music was anything less than spectacular. Indeed, their style and execution caused major excitement amongst connoisseurs of the genre, leading many to proclaim the album as one of the best records of the entire movement.
Formed in the late 80's, this New Jersey four piece had links to well known groups such as White Lion and Waysted. Impressing a number of labels with their own meticulous style of melodic hard rock, they signed to industry giant Geffen Records and cut this, their debut album, with renowned producer Richie Zito (Heart, Bad English and Poison). Inexplicably, the label sat on the completed record for over a year before releasing it, at a time when the public was then beginning to focus on grunge.
But if you like your music to sound big, bold and crammed full of hooks, in the mould of say Bon Jovi, White Lion and Winger, then this record will send you to seventh heaven; It's truly a remarkable achievement.

SALTY DOG 'EVERYDOG HAS ITS DAY' CANDY 304

THE SAYING GOES that every dog has its day but for one particular band that tired old proverb held no truth whatsoever. It's a shame, as the band in question , Salty Dog, happened to be one of the most outstanding acts of their time fusing red hot rock with a bluesy undertow that led others, such as Great White and Guns 'N Roses, to fame and fortune.
Formed in Los Angeles during the late 80s, but comprised of outsiders from a number of diverse locations, the band honed their chops in rehearsal studios, assembling a line up that would sound not only right together but also very different from what was happening on the strip. Indeed, the band's style incorporated a number of influences, from the old school rock of Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith, to the contemporary cut and thrust of Guns 'N Roses. It was also a sound that paid homage to the blues. That's the vintage gnarly influences of cats such a Muddy Waters and T-Bone Walker.
Originally released in 1990, the band received universal acclaim from critics, but failed to generate serious sales momentum. Produced by Peter Collins (Rush, Queensryche, Gary Moore) and engineered by British wunderkind Geoff Workman (Journey, Foreigner, M'tley Cr'e) the music resonates with killer intention. A sound that suggested the band would rightly take their place in the hard rock pantheon, alongside true greats, but sadly that was not to be.

SPECIAL DELUXE COLLECTOR'S EDITION, FULLY REMASTERED SOUND, FOUR BONUS TRACKS, 16 PAGE FULL COLOUR BOOKLET, 4,000 WORD ESSAY ABOUT THE MAKING OF THE ALBUM, NEW INTERVIEWS AND ENHANCED ARTWORK WITH UNSEEN PHOTOS

LONESOME FOOL 11. SLOW DAZE 12. SACRIFICE ME 13. NOTHIN' BUT A DREAM. BONUS TRACKS: 14. KEEP ME DOWN (Demo) 15. COME ALONG (Demo) 16. THE BUCKET SONG (Demo) 17. RING MY BELL (Demo)

NYMPHS 'S/T' CANDY305

THAT THE NYMPHS were not made for this commercial world is, on reflection, a pretty obvious statement. This is the story of a gloriously talented and forward thinking band, led by one of the most enigmatic and fascinating female vocalists of the time. In many respects they were destined for failure; it was a scenario written in the stars and one that maybe could never have succeeded, despite valiant attempts made by all those involved in the project. Indeed, if you are looking for a text book example of a great concept that crashed and burnt then this is the one.
Based in Los Angeles during the late 80s and led by Inger Lorre, the band were snapped up by label giant Geffen Records and touted as a revelation. Sounding pretty much unlike anything else at the time, their firebrand alt hard rock galvanised the label into believing the band held the key to the future. In many ways they did by making a stunning record, helmed by respected British producer Bill Price, the very same man who tamed the Sex Pistols, set fire to the Clash and gave the Pretenders a sound that continues to endure.
It was, however, Lorre's charismatic leadership and song writing that has secured the band's place in the pantheon of missed opportunities. Controversial, volatile and unapologetic, Inger led from the front, missing no opportunity to cause mayhem at every opportunity. Truly, this is one of the most extraordinary records of the last twenty five years.

KICK AXE 'VICES' CANDY337

CANADIAN ROCK HAS always been highly regarded amongst discerning heavy metal fans. In general, the quality of the craftsmanship, songwriting and playing is, in many respects, superior to any other country in the world, lending the acts an air of confidence and accomplishment that has always impressed. Kick Axe were, it must be said, one of the best Canadian hard rock acts that emerged during the early eighties, rubbing shoulders with other hot contenders such as Helix, Coney Hatch and Anvil to name but a few.
The Saskatchewan based five piece were initially formed by two brothers, that's Larry and Brian Gillstrom, together with bassist Victor Langen, all spurred on by the onslaught of British metal acts such as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Their intention was to craft a unit that embraced all the cut and thrust of the original genre, while injecting their sound with a melodic and contemporary edge. Signing to CBS Records in Canada the band was then, surprisingly, taken under the wing of Pasha Records in the USA, home of multiplatinum sellers Quiet Riot.
Produced by Spencer Proffer (Quiet Riot, King Kobra, W.A.S.P.) and originally issued in 1984, the album contains a sterling selection of tracks that place the band center stage in the burgeoning mid 80s hard rock renaissance, and give vocalist George Criston room to impress at every turn. As a prime example of 24 Karat Canadian rock, 'Vices' takes no prisoners and lays down the law with focussed intent.

SPECIAL DELUXE COLLECTOR'S EDITION, FULLY REMASTERED SOUND, BONUS TRACK, 12 PAGE FULL COLOUR BOOKLET, 3,500 WORD ESSAY ABOUT THE MAKING OF THE ALBUM, NEW INTERVIEW AND ENHANCED ARTWORK.

TRACK LISTING: 1. HEAVY METAL SHUFFLE 2. VICES 3. STAY ON TOP 4. DREAMIN' ABOUT YOU 5. MANEATER 6. ON THE ROAD TO ROCK 7. CAUSE FOR ALARM 8. ALIVE & KICKIN' 9. ALL THE RIGHT MOVES 10. JUST PASSIN' THROUGH BONUS TRACK: 11. 30 DAYS IN THE HOLE

KICK AXE 'WELCOME TO THE CLUB' CANDY338

THE MID 80S WAS an extremely healthy time for hard rock and heavy metal. It was also a prime era for Canadian acts, which seemed to be appearing at an alarming rate and all with one thing in common; they were consistently accomplished and uniquely skilful. Several of them were going global, such as Rush, Triumph and April Wine, but it was at a grass roots level that the real impact was being felt, with Kick Axe being at the sharp end of this new wave of maple leaf metal.
Following on the heels of their debut album, Kick Axe got right back in the saddle with a well crafted follow up; 'Welcome To The Club', produced, once again, by Spencer Proffer (Quiet Riot, King Kobra, W.A.S.P.) and his, for this record, assistant Randy Bishop. It was a far more mature recording, exuding a new level of sophistication by bringing in to play the sort of sound being pioneered by artists such as Queensryche and Dio. They didn't, however, take their eyes off the prize, keeping brute force to the fore and all hands on the steering wheel.
Issued in 1985, the record received, quite rightly, solid critical praise as it contains a brace of killer tracks, including 'Feel The Power', 'Hellraisers', 'Make Your Move' and a surprising cover version of the Beatles' 'With A Little Help from My Friends' that features several prominent Canadian musicians, including members of Triumph, Coney Hatch , Toronto, Sheriff, and Lee Aaron.

KICK AXE 'ROCK THE WORLD' CANDY339

IT'S OFTEN THE case with artists that they produce their best work when they are most under the most pressure. For Kick Axe this theory proved to be true when they unexpectedly found themselves cast adrift from their American label Pasha Records. It was a tough pill to swallow at first, but with the support of their Canadian label CBS the band lived on to not only fight another day but also to deliver their most accomplished record.
The Vancouver based quintet had made strong inroads into the world of hard rock and metal over the previous years, but had failed to connect on a commercial level. Their brand of tough muscular rock secured them a firm and committed following but various factors had prevented them from developing their unique abilities. The recording of 'Rock The World' showed that they could not only write great material but also refine their style of grandiose hard rock to reach its full potential.
Issued in 1986, the record featured ten superlative tracks; from short sharp red hot rock to captivating widescreen epics such as 'We Still Remember', 'Magic Man' and 'Warrior', all emblazoned with grandiose arrangements yet offering a firm power metal foundation. The production, handled by the band, is crisp and tight, giving no indication that they were forced to record the album on a shoestring budget. Truly, this is one of the rock world's best kept secrets, deserving of a place in any discerning collection.

ALBUM PRE-ORDERS AVAILABLE NOW FOR DELUXE DISC RE-RELEASES FROM SAMMY HAGAR, THE NYMPHS, SALTY DOG AND TYKETTO
RED DISTRIBUTION TO DISTRIBUTE ROCK CANDY RECORDS IN NORTH AMERICA

The times they are a-changing, but luckily there remains one constant: great music will live forever and in the catalogue and reissue world that has never been more relevant.
In the land of rock, that’s hard rock, heavy rock, classic rock or, call it what you will rock, no label has won more acclaim and earned respect than Rock Candy Records. Owned and founded by former music journalist and A&R man Derek Oliver, Rock Candy has focused on breathing life into records that deserve a place in the pantheon of rock history.

Operating out of London, England for the last eight years, the label specialises in revisiting some of the most important and significant records from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.
From Ted Nugent to Rick Springfield, by way of Quiet Riot, Dokken, Billy Squier, Toto, Ratt, R.E.O. Speedwagon, L.A. Guns, Ace Frehley, Hanoi Rocks, and Kansas, the label has re-activated some of the greatest records of the last forty years, buffing them up, and re-positioning them as 24 Karat diamonds. To date, Rock Candy has re-released over 300 titles in Europe.

Rock Candy has made a concerted effort to dig deep and unearth a string of lesser known acts and records ripe for reappraisal, albums that have always been hot on the collectors market but overlooked at the time of release or just slipped below the surface through no fault of their own. Records by Montrose (the band who wrote the track that inspired the company’s name), Hughes/Thrall, The Godz, Blue Murder, Smashed Gladys, Girl and Blackfoot) have all been brought back to life for a victory lap. Having conquered Europe, Rock Candy has now set up shop in North America, happily partnering with industry powerhouse RED Distribution.
It’s a match made in rock n’ roll heaven and one that will shortly see the launch of a U.S. offensive, starting with four tantalising titles on Friday, November 18.

RED President Bob Morelli comments, “Derek Oliver’s Rock Candy imprint and RED are a perfect fit. Already a leader in unearthing the best in-demand out of print rock titles in Europe, the label joins RED like-minded music strategy in the U.S. As we outpace industry growth in vinyl Market Share, the addition of Rock Candy will help keep that trend alive and we are thrilled to have them on board.”

Keep an eye and, especially, an ear out for future offerings, but for now please raise a glass and join us for a toast to the imminent arrival of the following four solid gold classics all released on Friday, November 18.
These forthcoming CD titles along with limited-edition select merch are available for pre-order now at the newly launched Rock Candy U.S. storefront.

The completely bombastic, over the top, rocking intro to this new album had me leaping from my chair in search of my Don’t Come Easy Tshirt, but by the time I got to the door, it was over!
Still…that was the finest 37 seconds of melodic rock I’ve heard all year.
The riff does return a couple of times during the song, but the essence of the band’s new title track Reach is a pretty laid back duel electric/acoustic base. I do think it is a wasted opportunity to leave such a huge riff hanging, but the song grows big time and is the purest Tyketto song of the album.

The new album Reach sees a new lineup in play – Brooke St James and in comes Ged Rylands (keyboards, vocals), Chris Green (guitar, vocals) and Chris Childs (bass guitar, vocals) to join the two original members Danny Vaughn and Michael Clayton Arbeeny.
I must admit, I haven’t played the last album Dig In Deep too much since reviewing it, but I’m far more confident this one will be spun many more times.

It may not really be Tyketto as we know, but whatever you think, it’s the best Danny Vaughn project in some time. And Chris Green on guitar has brought some definite grit to the band’s sound. Tracks like Big Money and Kick Like A Mule rank amongst the band’s heaviest.
Circle The Wagons is another classic Tyketto ballad with all the angst you love from these guys.

Tearing Down The Sky is a nice old school dark, moody rocker; the acoustic ballad Letting Go is fabulous and Remember My Name also rocks.  The lush mid-tempo ballad Scream is closer to the early Tyketto sound while The Run starts slow and acoustic before building to a bombastic finish.

A couple of fillers and that lost opportunity for song of the year with the title track (it’s still going to be up there though) are my only complaints. The production is superb and the mix nice and clear. Chris Green is his usual brilliant self and adds so much to the material.
And as usual Danny Vaughn sounds like he hasn’t aged a day since 1992.
